  1. Review - RoboForm

    7.1.0 (Dec 7, 2010)

@aladdin - if one work's in that sort of environment and fail to lock the workstation then it's the user's fault and has nothing to do with RoboForm.

5 stars for being the best at what it does (not to mention offsetting low ratings for dumb reasons)

  2. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    4.0.249.25 Beta (Dec 4, 2009)

For everyone concerned with Google having your information as a result of installing Chrome . . . don't be so stupid! Your local grocery store has more personal information about you than Google does if you've ever truthfully filled out a form to get a "savings" card for that store.

More importantly, the purpose of these ratings and reviews is whether or not the product works as advertised. Chrome does and does it well. It's not perfect but then I'm not holding out for the first piece of software that is.

  3. Review - Joomla!

    1.5.8 (Nov 11, 2008)

    @mjm01010101

You obviously didn't bother to read the infor you point to at http://secunia.com/advisories/32622 but that's ok, I'll be glad to help you out . . .

"Successful exploitation requires access to the weblink submission form.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.5.7 and prior.

    Solution:
    Update to version 1.5.8"

Your low rating is meaningless. Please, if you are going to trash someone's work at least validate your claims.

Joomla is a fine product, flexible and fun.

  4. Review - AutoVer

    1.2.1 (Feb 19, 2008)

Seems like this has potential but it's not working for me.

I set up my "Watch Folder" as the local docs on my laptop and the "Backup Folder" set to my mapped network drive. I specified an empty folder on the network for testing. The initial backup process recreated the folder structure perfectly but did not copy a single file within those folders.

What gives? Anyone else experience this or am I being a bonehead and missing something? I didn't modify the file masks from the default.

  5. Review - jv16 PowerTools

    1.7.0.401 Beta (Jul 24, 2007)

BETA yes but excellent at what it does.

A 5 Star rating, especially because Mastertech and his mindless opinions are the dictionary definition of absurd.

I don't recall seeing anywhere a claim that the software would be forever free. If you are only looking for free try http://oldversion.com/

Software is *never* final until development stops.
    Phhhhttt......

Uh, meant to say sefvice that sucks!

  7. Comment - Sprint to acquire Virgin Mobile USA for $483 million

    1.7.0.401 Beta (Jul 29, 2009 - 1:07 PM)

Great. An even longer arm of service.

  8. Comment - Fix for free anti-virus generating fake traffic

    1.7.0.401 Beta (Jul 7, 2008 - 5:44 PM)

Then consider yourself extremely lucky. You are making the assumption that you will be able to manually ferret out the potential threats.

To each his/her own and I will not criticize. I will only say that as good and experienced as I am it's not worth the risk.

Lastly I will throw in that I don't consider AVG Free or pay to be as effective as other choices. There are a number that are better with a smaller faster footprint.

  9. Comment - Beta of an Outlook synchronization gadget for Google Apps

    1.7.0.401 Beta (May 16, 2008 - 5:50 PM)

Perhaps in functionality but as for any plugins for Hotmail or MSN I'd question the value.

It's probably safe to say that capturing the attention of the Outlook users is far more important only if by sheer numbers or professional access.

I dare say that there are few true businesses using Hotmail or MSN and for a reason.

Or maybe it's just me? I dunno. I couldn't give a rat's a__ if those two services closed shop tonight. I have NEVER used those accounts for anything other than a rare need to send something to a friend or because I am obligated to have it (read PISSPORT) and I get tons of SPAM. What a waste of bandwidth.

  10. Comment - Windows XP's final day still June 30, but low-cost PCs get two more years

    1.7.0.401 Beta (Apr 7, 2008 - 12:50 PM)

"If they were smart, they would continue to sell XP. You have a product people want. It makes you money. Why not give people the option to which os they want. . ."

They are smart because they will make money either way. If XP isn't available then people will buy Vista, assuming they don't migrate to another platform.

To use your example, Selling Win95 and having to support such a dated product only stagnates the market. If you want to run a Windows product then you should have something capable of handling an OS at least in the same decade. Win95? Name one benefit that Win95 has over any of the later versions?

Personally, Vista does the job for me. The minor speed issue is inconsequential as I am neither a raving FPS fan nor hardware challenged. For those who are, I wish you well for things will change in time whether planned or not.
