  1. Review - FireTune

    1.0.6 (Aug 19, 2005)

"...as it turns out, WMP only uses this option to speed up caching of streams or something, and it has nothing to do with XP."

You're an idiot; Check %windir%\prefetch - it contains prefetch information to commonly used executables; prefetching improves performance related to the loading of visual styles and themes, thus decreasing (if only marginally) the load time of these programs.

  2. Review - DynAdvance Notifier

    1.1.27 Beta (Dec 31, 2004)

This is a quality program and I've enjoyed it for months. I'm not questioning the caliber of this, but when this went from freeware preview to something you have to pay a (small) price for, I never saw the logic of paying for something that checks my free mail accounts.

  3. Review - Avant Browser Lite

    10.0 Beta Build 006 (Sep 7, 2004)

Didn't see anything about 10.0 b6 on the site, but 10.0 b5 has this for changelog:

Here is some features I finished for 10.0:

    XML RSS/ATOM Feeds Reader
Auto-hide left side bar in full screen/desktop mode.
Floating Bar for selected Text (Copy, Search, Find, Highlight...)
Floating Bar for Flash Movie (Save, Play in Player, emailing, Block...)
Floating Bar for Image (Save, View in Viewer, Zoom in/out, emailing).
    Send the page...
    Page Zooming
    Privacy Report...
    Fixed Web Page Printing Bug
Improved Memory Usage, it's faster with large number of windows opened.

There are several feeds will be installed to your favorites folder, for testing purpose. If you know any excellent feed that would be great to be package by installer, please let me know.

Floating Bar will be shown if you move your mouse over "Selected Text", "Pictures", and "Flash Movies". And disappear after 2 seconds if you don't use it.

There will be some other features added in the following beta.

    Thanks,

    Anderson

  4. Review - Symantec W32.Mydoom@mm Removal Tool

    1.0.5 (Jan 31, 2004)

Although I think this program (and all the other Symantec removal tools like it) are solid and are great at what they're supposed to do, I believe that scanning every file on your computer once FOR EACH virus/trojan/worm is a bit excessive... what if you think you may be infected by 8 different virusses, do you download all 8 removal tools and scan each file 8 times?

Without trying to spam any other software (not my intention) I think Symantec should have gone the Mcafee way and deployed a program such as Stinger.

  5. Review - AEdiX Suite

    2.1.0 Beta 1 (Sep 24, 2003)

Not bad, I rather like it... still partial to UltraEdit (best in my opinion, but not freeware) or crimson editor (freeware) ... but yeah, this looks like it could get good, and it's free.
