  1. Review - RealPlayer for Windows

    10.5 Final Build 6.0.12.1056 (Oct 28, 2004)

I'm updating my review on this.

I have removed a star from it. I installed this on my PC again (Unfortunately) just to attempt to clarify some issues my fellow reviewers are having.

    1. The CPU and RAM. You're right, it only takes up 5 MB of RAM. When it's sitting there looking "pretty". As for the CPU using 4 - 8 cycles to play audio is awful. If I want to waste my cycles I will use Windows Media Player for everything.

1a. For the guy who stated the following: "And to the guys worried about his cpu and RAM...dude, upgrade already. Seriously, that Pentium II w/64mb of RAM just won't cut it anymore"

For one a P2 with 64 MB of RAM should be fine for running audio and video. And secondly, I run an AMD XP3200+ with 1.5 GB of PC3200 RAM.

    2. The bloat issue. Realplayer is fairly bloated (This version being much better than the last couple of version though) and very intrusive. When I say I don't want it to play certain filetypes I mean it.

All in all it's just not worth installing it. Real Alternative does the same thing but is so much better. If you don't buy music online (Which I don't) it's just not worth the trouble of the install and configuration so it doesn't play all my files and add subliminal messages telling me to buy 5 copies of Real Player Professional and then eat my own foot (Ok it doesn't really do the last part) but you know what I mean. If it's to be used as a primary player it is not great but a lot better than the previous versions in almost all aspects.

So for all the people saying that if you give it a low rating you haven't used it, don't assume that. Assuming makes an a** out of you and umption. People have their own opinions about software, what it should and what it should not do.

  2. Review - AudioGrail

    5.0.0.20 RC1 (Oct 23, 2003)

Amazing application, went through my entire music collection with it. Can't wait to see what is improved in the final!

  3. Review - ClearInfo

    0.49 Beta 4 (Aug 5, 2002)

It's basically like Coolmon, but not nearly as customizable. Good effort though

  4. Review - TrayThis

    2.0 Beta Build 415 (Aug 24, 2001)

I found it worked very well, selecting the class is a little confusing but a very nice feature.

  5. Review - LimeWire for Windows

    1.5 (Jul 5, 2001)

And to answer your question monoman67, here: We have taken down version 1.5 due to some Win95, Win98 and WinMe problems. Check here for a workaround to the 1.5 issue.
