  1. Review - K-Lite Codec Pack Full

    3.8.5 (Mar 24, 2008)

    @echohead

What does ruined mean ? broken ? or the audio just didnt come out right ?
probably a misconfiguration of the number of speakers used... have you tried the other playback options with KLPC ? (surely not...)

yes, k-lite is supposed to provide full media playback...AND SO IT DOES !

so what if the pack comes with a player(that you may choose not to install), ffdshow (which you may choose not to use) and lots of codecs for probably every video file around the net ?

Think about it, instead of installing RealPlayer or RealPlayerAlternative, Quicktime, DivX, and lots of codecs that arent included in the programs above, you just install KLCP.
With one setup you have all you´ll ever need !

And as mentioned above... you have the freedom to use any player you wish, simply because you are not forced to install MP Classic, it works well with WMP.

So its not the packs fault that an unexperienced user(to say the least) clicks uncontrollably on the 'Next' button and doesn't know what he is really doing. (And when the installation is done he sees the ffdshow tray icon and the MP Classic window open and screams "Nooo...this pack 'forced' me to use ffdshow and MP Classic.." )

And honestly, this project is still ongoing because of people that have a bit more of grey matter between their ears to see the potential of the pack (and are not stupid enough to install 'all these programs')

    well...for all the other users,
KLMCP is great, surely not perfect,
but it hasnt let me down yet playing any video file from the internet ! keep it up, guys !

  2. Review - Vuze for Windows

    3.0.4.1 Beta 10 (Dec 23, 2007)

Azureus was once the best BitTorrent app but was already very heavy in exchange of having more options than any other BitTorrent client and with plug-in support..

but with the zudeo/vuze interface it got even heavier, and at that time uTorrent was coming into the light, with a some advantages like being much less resource consuming and stand alone(does not need to be installed)

(sorry to be preaching about uTorrent but sorry, azureus went in the wrong direction aswhere utorrent went into the 'right' one...)

  3. Comment - Ubuntu 9.10 upgraders report frustration

    3.0.4.1 Beta 10 (Nov 10, 2009 - 4:00 PM)

I've known about some problems upgrading from one thoroughly customized ubuntu version to the next, so I didn't want to risk problems. Besides, it is always good to do a clean install, since you re-evaluate the 'crap' you've installed earlier.

I liked karmic and its new form, but I had/have some very annoying problems.
Couldn't get grub2 to work(apparently I know to much about the last version).
Couldn't find the manager to configuring startup services I loved in Jaunty.
I'm pissed that I it is not offered to remember authorization for common actions, like mounting other partitions or changing my cpu freq though an applet.

  4. Comment - Real suspends RealDVD in wake of MPAA lawsuit

    3.0.4.1 Beta 10 (Oct 6, 2008 - 6:59 PM)

mpaa is so lawsuit trigger happy they'll end someday shooting their own foot suing themselves...

  5. Comment - Nintendo looks to address game piracy issues worldwide

    3.0.4.1 Beta 10 (Feb 14, 2008 - 5:02 PM)

    haaa haaaa haaaa ^^
Brazil ? significant changes to the law ?
(there already are laws against piracy, that state sth like the following: "You can´t sell pirated stuff"... whats to change here ?)

Ok, perhaps one could try to change the enforcement of those laws... but this is one of the laws that don´t really 'stick'(one would call it that way here in Brazil)(it means that there is the law, nobody really follows it and/so the authorities in charge don't make much effort...)

Also, where do you think the ilegal games(since we are speaking of nintendo) come from ? if one was to wait for the release of the game in Brazil it could take a while and not many games get pt_br translation anyways...

  6. Comment - Sweden to indict Pirate Bay owners by end of month

    3.0.4.1 Beta 10 (Jan 29, 2008 - 11:12 AM)

    Déjà vu ?

as if any of this is really new...

so what if the music industries are insisting in a fight they are obviously losing ?
(how many people you know that use computers/internet that don't have something illegal on their pcs ?)

so what if they sue/arrest everybody who is downloading illegal content, which actually is a big chunk of the people who also buy legal content ? its kinda like shooting your own foot...

so what if they close down one of the biggest torrent hosting sites ? its not as if the comunity will stop working all of a sudden.
It will take a hit( I for example still miss demonoid...). It also reminds me of SuprNova.org and in it's place a lot of sites thrived and made the comunity better...
(and it even came back online ^^)
