  1. Review - Mouse without Borders

    2.1.0.8 (Sep 14, 2011)

    Impressive :-)
This has one major advantage over other similar programs such as Synergy and Input Director, in that you can 'drag and drop' files between systems.
I expect Synergy and Input Director to follow with this function soon.

  2. Review - Soluto

    1.2.115.0 Beta (May 25, 2011)

    Works fine here :-)

    4 PCs (1 XP, 1 Vista, 2 Windows 7). Not a problem with any.

  3. Review - Mozilla Firefox (v5) for Windows

    5.0 Beta 2 (May 21, 2011)

    Wow is this fast :-)

    Compared to FF4 - FF5 (Aurora) feel 15-20% faster.

Most noticeable speed improvements in switching tabs, forward and backwards, scroll page.

  4. Review - CD Messenger (formerly Office Instant Messenger) for Windows

    2.1 Beta (Apr 6, 2011)

    Great program
    Daft name IMHO

    CD Messenger (Corporate Digital Messenger)
    (formerly Office Instant Messenger)

    How about ...
    "Office Chat"
    "Inter Office Chat"
    "Office Intercom"
    "No Need To Shout" :-)

  5. Comment - LulzSec reveals the stupidest passwords on the planet

    2.1 Beta (Jun 19, 2011 - 4:08 PM)

I haven't used a passWORD for years, I've been using passPHRASE.
I think a phrase is a better way to think about this.
A minimum length of 32 characters.

  6. Comment - Elcomsoft launches free tool for extracting Facebook passwords

    2.1 Beta (Jun 3, 2011 - 6:34 PM)

@Rikrdo So what you are saying is that this program (or something like it) could get the 'remembered' passwords for any site. Then this is a browser issue and not really about any specific site. I would be very interested to read more on this, could you post links to articles?

  7. Comment - Elcomsoft launches free tool for extracting Facebook passwords

    2.1 Beta (Jun 3, 2011 - 6:28 PM)

@sagum - As I understand it copyright was to protect a persons earnings from an idea, allowing them exclusive profit for a period of time - after that time the idea could be copied by others.

I would like to say two things on this subject ...
    1. Copyright is about EARNINGS not ownership, since the idea was that copyright should eventually end
    2. The law should change to reflect the actual lose of earnings

In some court cases people have been fined #2000 per item because that is the set amount for a breach of copyright. If a poor person with no intention (or means) of ever buying the item makes a copy of it - then where is the lose of earnings?

Since when has Betanews been advertising hacking software?
If there are issues with the security of a site sure bring it to our (and the website owners) attention. But help distribute a hack tool - that is plain nuts and lowers the respectability of Betanews.

  9. Comment - Is Firefox doomed?

    2.1 Beta (Mar 27, 2011 - 4:09 PM)

This item seems to be talking about 3 different subjects. Browsers, OS and Apps. And Firefox addons.

There is a clear distinction between OS, Browser, Apps and FF addons.
OS = the basic software for the hardware.
Browser = a window that displays web pages.
    Apps = mini applications.
FF Addons = add ons to add functionality to the browser or mini applications.

If Google come out with a box with a browser inside and call that an OS, then what stops another company coming out with a box and putting Firefox inside?
Both could sit on top of Linux, Android already does.
