For any user of an e-book this is must-have software. Converts formats and manages pretty much any size e-library. Vry regular updates as well. Great stuff.
11.7 Build 37 (Sep 10, 2009)
I have used Avant for many years now. Enough that I can't even remember how many 4 or 5 years, probably. It has set the standard for tabbed functionality long before anyone else except maybe Maxthon did tabs. For working with IE engine this is the browser to use.
And though I have since switched to Firefox as my primary browser I still use Avant for some specific sites and function tht either don't work, or don't work suite right in Firefox.
3.0 Preview (Sep 16, 2008)
There are only three or four functions that aren't in the free version so I am revising my score.
Wile the comments about the cost of the program are correct, I think it still deserves a high score. This is a very well thought out user interface addition. Having studied UI design this programmer deserves a fellowship at Microsoft
for the great work he has done is creating the way this thing presents your programs and Start menu. This should be the Start menu in Windows 7.
The videos and web site design are top notch professional work as well.
Come on people give the guy a break he has really spend a lot of time not only programming this thing but more importantly a huge amount of time planning and thinking it through as well.
8.0 Beta 2 (Aug 27, 2008)
So far I'm quite impressed. Interestingly enough it is a good thing that it includes the compatibility mode as Betanews seems to require it to display.

I have been using this app for several years now and have never been disappointed. THis is as solid as software gets and even the betas are less troublesome than most release versions fo other "shareware" apps of thsi type. Gets my highest recommendation.
2.5.752 (Sep 30, 2009 - 8:14 AM)
I've used this since the very first beta release and have had no problems what-so-ever. I've even tested some intentional infections that were caught and stopped immediately. I see no reduction in performance on either of the two systems on which it runs. One a Core 2 Duo T7200 running at 2 Ghz with 3 GB RAM and the other a Phenom II 940 running at 3.6 Ghz with 8 GB RAM.
And after my forced infection tests I have been impressed enough to use it exclusively on my personal workstations.

I'm not sure I agree with the complete abolition of software patents, but at the very least the process for issuing them, and even more importantly for contesting and protecting them needs a drastic revision.
And patent trolls should be stuffed into a sausage machine and turned into haggis.

Why is it everything Google does will "change everything?" Let's get real and leave the hyperbole at home for a change.

Horse hockey. This is one of the most ill-conceived articles this site has ever published. What a bunch of weak kneed nonsense.
If your hardware came with Vista upgrade it. Win 7 is for all intents and purposes the service pack Vista so badly needed. No one should stay on Vista unless they simply cannot afford to upgrade.
