We (Bytemobile) recently commissioned a consumer research study on mobile internet usage and mobile TV was an area we examined. One observation was that consumers do not trust mobile video enough to commit to watching long videos because of the time it takes to download and the possibility of losing the connection. As mentioned in your piece, handset compatibility is one issue slowing down mobile TV adoption, but it looks like another factor is consumer confidence and comfort level with using the handset to consume mobile video content.
