  1. Review - Comodo Internet Security (32-bit)

    5.3.44816.1227 (Jan 13, 2011)

I don't understand why it's not secure at all as the list you're talking about is based on signed files.
did you ever install any malware digitally signed ?
comodo worked on a software more friendly as lot of people were lost with all the alerts they had to create rules, alerts for the firewall, alerts for Defense+, as they didnt know what to do with all those alerts.
now, comodo can run with a limited number of rules to create for common users that hate all those complicated softwares with tones of settings and alerts.
But what i like the best is that comodo is still configurable to have full control on the traffic with alerts for anything, so you create many rules for each process, or use predefined policies like "browser policy" or "ftp client" , "email client, outgoing only, trusted apps and blocked apps.
the defense+ is a powerfull security tool to monitor all files activities and decide what a file will be allowed to do on the system.
defense+ is protecting by default important files and folders, you can add your own files and folders rule, there's a default protected reg keys and you can also add your own keys you want to protect, there's a protected COM interfaces also configurable like you want.
and to help defense+ configuration, there's a sandbox where anything that's not part of trusted software vendors is launched sandboxed with a level of security you chose to run the file sandboxed. there are several levels of security from partially limited to blocked. setting blocked for unknown files is too high as the file cant run so just before blocked you have "untrusted files" that will launch the unknown file with not enough rights to corrupt your system.
the files unrecognized will stay into the sandbox as long as you decide about it. if you know the file, so it's not a problem, sometimes comodo doesnt know all softwares, and the unrecognized files sandboxed stored into a specific place are submitted to the cloud so, they're analysed and if they're unknown, after some days, they'll be classified as trusted or not,
even if you didnt install the AV, you got the cloud that will inform you about the unrecognized file.
this software is really great and needs to be tested, you can use the version with the AV, but I like comodo for his firewall and Defense+
I use a shareware as Antivirus to complete Comodo.

  2. Review - Safari for Windows

    5.0.3 (Nov 22, 2010)

this last safari works fine on windows xp 32-bit actually, it's not as fast as the last chrome, but as they look exactly the same, I would prefere safari cause of the adding of more settings than chrome. that's not hard as chrome has very little options in the settings. safari settings are not that huge but it's a noticeable difference between the 2 browsers. and about extensions, the ghostery extension into chrome isnt working for all pages as the one for safari is blocking all tracers that spy your surf.
safari for windows is a good browser, not as fast as chrome, without all those add-ons that bring power to firefox, but if you use to use several browsers, this one is good enough to take place beside Firefox, chrome and Opera on a windows system.

  3. Review - WinRAR (32-bit)

    4.00 Beta 1 (Nov 15, 2010)

the themes don't work with this new beta version.

  4. Review - Microsoft Windows Live Essentials

    2011 (Oct 3, 2010)

the new windows live mail is nice, but the messenger is very bad.
the webcam works very bad, you don't know anymore the number of contacts you have, now it's synchronized with your MSN profile, you can't chose anymore the name you want, when you put the messenger in full mode, it's totally useless as the only option you have is to see what you wrote as status or what your contacts wrote. and the other option is to see the MSN.com infos.
who had the idea to modify the messenger that way ?
now you can associate facebook with messenger, ok but i don't care, if i want to write something on facebook, i prefere logon to facebook.com and use the facebook website.
there are now aero graphic effects, that's why it's not compatible anymore with xp.
I hope they're going to correct this new version of messenger very fast cause for now i stay on version 2009, i don't want this version 2011, they forgot that messenger first use is to communicate in live with your msn contacts and that's the reason we use it, they didn't create any improvment on that.
    bad bad bad.

  5. Review - Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

    1.0.30.0 (Dec 13, 2009)

good tool, -1 cause it doesnt detect USB hard drive to write the ISO on it and install from an USB hd.
except that, to install windows 7 with USB key instead of DVD is extremely fast.
it needs 5 minutes to install windows 7 if you have a good PC.

  6. Comment - Online Armor Free 5.0: Too many alerts but great protection

    1.0.30.0 (Apr 14, 2011 - 2:26 PM)

online armor has a big competitor : comodo 5.3.
I used online armor long time ago but there was no 64-bit version at this time,
So With my new system 64-bit, i changed for comodo and i never came back with online armor wich was not as good as comodo.
a lot of improvments have certainly been done since this time on online armor,
    anyway, i hope so.

  7. Comment - Without auto-update, 2 million users downloaded IE9 RC

    1.0.30.0 (Feb 20, 2011 - 3:32 AM)

this IE9 RC is far better than IE8, anyone noticed the speed to load pages compared to IE8.
and even if you hate MS, IE9 is a lot better than the old IE8.
this release works fine on win7 64-bit, I didnt notice any trouble for now.
i heard about some ad blocker integrated to IE9,
is it true ? I didnt find anything in the RC.
will they add it to rtm version ?

  8. Comment - Apple's 11.6-inch MacBoook is all the Air I need

    1.0.30.0 (Dec 11, 2010 - 4:17 AM)

the mac book air 11.6 is a gadget.

  9. Comment - Firefox in the dust: Opera poised to reclaim browser performance lead

    1.0.30.0 (Oct 12, 2010 - 8:28 AM)

Opera should be very good if there was no rendering website troubles.
simple exemple if you use facebook.
login facebook then use friends for sale application, when you go to the "work" option,
you can't chose anything on the webpage.
this bug is here for so long, i sent a report to opera but nothing changes.
all others browsers are able to make the webpage working fine.
this is the principal problem with opera, there are too many websites that don't work fine on it.

  10. Comment - Most Betanews readers won't buy iPhone 4

    1.0.30.0 (Jun 13, 2010 - 11:46 AM)

of course not, I'll never buy any apple product. I have a HTC HD2 wich is a way better choice cause of the larger screen, what is very important, just use a HCT HD2 for one day and then use an iphone and u'll understand what i mean.
but the thing that is really annoying me about the iphone is the fact you just cant use it on your pc if you didnt install Itunes first ! what the hell ?? when i plug my HD2 i got no problem at all, i can transfert any file i want on the phone or from the phone, what about the iphone ? even worst, if you have no internet connexion and that your iphone OS is corrupted, you have no possibility to fix it without itunes connected to the internet, so no thanks, no iphone for me, the HD2 is a really better choice. and i forgot that also, the first time you use your iphone, you must connect it to itunes to create an account to validate your iphone or you can't use it. lol. when i bought my HD2 i just plugged the sim card and it was ready. apple should learn from HTC. i thought the iphone 4 would be released with a screen as big as the HD2 but they stay with the little one from the 3G even with a better resolution, it's still the same size.
