Windows Locker in Vista, had roots of an app store (and I am sure it was an app store, but it never launched). So Microsoft was toying with this idea for a while (now there is Windows Marketplace).
I think the problem is that consumers were not showing much interest - so like with other things (smartphones, ultra mobile pc's, tablets) Microsoft was ahead of it's time.
Now that market is mature, MS can launch appstore and they do not have anything to loose.

Get her windows phone 7 and she will be much better of than with Android...much easier to use (even my 3 year old knows how to use WP7). Set her up with hotmail as well then :) Joe - there are choices :)

Active Sync is available for multiple platforms. It's kind of de-facto standard. Even your iPhone, Nexus One support it...

If not these KIDS - then all the governments and big corporations would still be PRETENDING how secure their servers are...
It is not that hard to secure servers and government agencies have responsobility to do that. So instead of pretending that terorists attacked them - someone should be doing their job and securing everyone's data.
