  1. Review - Mozilla for Windows

    1.0 Final (Jun 11, 2002)

Everyone knows the AOL email client stinks. I have long sought a way to use standard email clients (Outlook, Eldora, Outlook Express, etc) but AOL's proprietary non-POP mail format makes that impossible.

I finally found a program called eNetBot which worked for about a year. Unfortunately, AOL made some changes and the eNetBot author has tried for almost three months, but just can't seem to fix the problems.

Enter AOL2Pop. Although beta, at least for me this thing works flawlessly. It has an XP style interface which is way cool to look at. More to the point, the program quietly and unobtrusively does exactly what it is supposed to -- lets me download and read AOL mail with my POP3 email client.

It also supports "return receipts" whereby you get an email as soon as the AOL recipient opens the message.

The whole program is just very slick. Also the author is lightening quick with responses to questions or suggestions.

Security seems OK too. I blocked all traffic except to AOL and the program worked just fine. Nothing is being sent anywhere other than to AOL.

    This things a winner.
