1.62 Build 613 (Jul 5, 2006)
This has been a GREAT addition to my do-it-all-fix-the-world-and-then-bill-em kit!
I would like to see a wireless network scanner put in here as well, just to see networks, not connect.
1.24 Beta 1 (Feb 21, 2004)
Simple, no hastle, works, works, and works some after that.
Program is not very useful to me, but it is everything it says. I give it 4 stars, and then one more for the authors tenacity.
0.7.7 (Jan 2, 2004)
I voted last beta a 5 star, and before that and before that...
Now I am again voting a 5 star not just becuase this program IS a 5 star, but becuase it DESERVES 5 stars. These kids that keep voting a 1 star, please let me know where you live so we can talk about this.
Great sound quality. GREAT sound quality. GREAT sound quality.
This program is NOT meant to have a pretty face. It was not built to be skinned to the moon and back, or to look cool. It was built to PLAY MUSIC. It has a LARGE screen with great playlist features. It has supperior file support, and playback quality.
If all you care about is pretty skins, and neat looking screensavers... why are you even listening to music?
5 star, and unless you decide to suddenly take out all its features and make it a winamp shell, I don't see it possible to be anything LESS than 5 stars.
Get it, use it, get some plugins to make it act like winamp if you just cannot change.... but if you like music, and you like music QUALITY (not quantity.. *cough* clear channel radio play*cough*) then fb is for you.
6.4.7.3 (Dec 22, 2003)
I have been using this for AWHILE... it is a GODSEND.
I have an older version, guess I'll try this one when I get home... but for now, all I can ask is to add streaming support. That happens, and I will never have to open mediaplayer again... and that makes me happy.
6.4.7.3 (Aug 17, 2006 - 7:17 PM)
Why doesn't AOL go after the spammers, sue them, take 10% or something plus the court fees, then literally give the rest back to AOLers in the form of instant rebates on thier bills?
6.4.7.3 (Aug 17, 2006 - 7:06 PM)
You know what surprises me, is that a good 50%+ of the people that seem to comment on political matters don't seem to actually comment at all on the political matter. They just scream hate to the "other party." Last I checked guys, it doesn't matter if you are left wing or right leg or upper forehead, the article is about our government infringing our rights and securities.
Whether you take it upon yourself to question EVERYTHING ANYONE says at ALL times, or just blindly accept what you are told and give complete trust is really no concern of this judge, or should be no concern of each person on this forum. What you should be concerned about is the fact that there is something wrong going on here. It’s wrong enough to have made it legitimately to a courtroom and to have won thus far.
We all know corruption exists in all government, in all jobs, and in all facets of life, our government is no different. But there is a general problem when enough people think our government has gone over the line of "acceptable corruption" that an actual legal battle AGAINST OUR OWN PEOPLE must ensue. When a president hardly can hold 50% approval rating, when his bank swells as gas prices rise, when our sons and daughters die in someone else’s land fighting for a now lost reason, when nearly EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD stands up and voices words of hate towards us, eventually there comes a time when people will have to start to question what is actually happening in front of them. Is our government really out working and fighting hard for us, or are they busy playing Battleship with the world as their board.
Should we stop and listen to conspiracy theorists who tell us that everything from 9/11 to Iraq has been a complete setup to allow us to go to war so Bush's father's companies can get massive $$ govt contracts?
I would like to call attention to a LONG forgotten concept known as "Common Sense." Now I know just hearing those words makes peoples eyes roll in their heads and immediately the left/right wing flames start to be typed, but really guys, take a look around. When you can no longer turn on the television without hearing a news story printed here in the states that does not match the same stories printed elsewhere around the world, its time to actually take a look at things yourself and stop letting everyone else think for you. Last time I checked neither a donkey nor an elephant was fit to tell a human what to do.
So you say that the govt is protecting your rights? So you say that this entire thing is Clintons fault? So I say then why thus far has every reason, every scrap of intelligence gained, everything that has required an investigation somehow all come out as "bad intelligence" or a "clerical mistake". When we have video taped evidence with dates stating our president was warned about 9/11 before it happened, when we find out that there are no WMDs in any places we are attacking for.... WMDs is "intelligence error" I start to say perhaps we are jumping the gun or at the LEAST making very bad decisions. Sure the tyrants of those countries needed to be dealt with. No I do not think this the war up till a few months ago has not been worth it, but I gotta say, I would much prefer to be told we are going to war to unseat a ruthless ruler than a lie of WMD that will kill us all in our sleep please let us tap your phones and listen to your conversations and please also put this microchip in your hand.
So all the obvious BS aside.... here’s a nice question I wish we could ask.
"Can the NSA prove that their wiretapping HAS saved lives?" I mean, sure, the old saying is innocent until proven guilty, but on the turn of the foot, I do not recall seeing any terrorist activities thwarted by these wiretappings. I have seen better results from other countries (Britain) without those wiretaps.
Another thing that really bugs me about all this is that we STILL do not have a document stating what the criteria for said wiretaps is. How is this information obtained? If someone is not listening to something and stumble upon probable cause to wiretap someone, just how do we decide (and why) that someone gets taped?
Lastly I would like to point out something that I am seeing less and less of. Checks and balances. The govt was built upon a system that no one person or organization could have nearly unlimited power or abilities to do things without another organization or power to counteract their actions. When a president goes around those checks and balances to be able to do something that is already quite controversial, I trouble believe they should be doing it start off with. If they are doing something that REQUIRES them to go around the "red tape" of the balances, then chances are that’s because those balances would deny these taps. Of course no one can say that but them, but seeing as they have not be given the cases, have not be asked, and have been completely circumvented, it does not look to favorably for the current administration.
I have said my peace and will continue to write my congressman as I always do and try to help my friends actually come to their own conclusions, not just accept what a ruling party or some totally crazy wing tells them to believe. After all, there is only so long that someone can tell you the fire will not burn you, until it does, and all the lies, red tape, and covering up cannot stop that. Lets just hope bush is not the fire.
6.4.7.3 (Feb 21, 2004 - 10:50 PM)
I am amazed that this is a argument thread.
The article is about windows source code leaked, and the thread is M$ vs. L|nux.
You guys are basically throwing snowballs. Hardcore linux guys are too bullheaded to ever admit that thier os is anything but superior to M$ in every way. Hardcore M$ people think the same.
M$ has the user and program base. They have a better desktop platform enviroment. Linux guys, stop all your b****ing and moaning and crying. M$ is still better as a standard desktop. Its user friendly, quick, and have a pletora or software avaliable. Linux GUI IS VERY SLOW and pretty ugly. Its not user friendly. Desktop enviorment is GUI btw... so all of you whiny linux b****es stfu. I don't care if you prefer a shell over a gui... YOU are not the majority.
Server side, linux outperforms windows in a lot of areas. However, linux again, is much harder to setup, and much slower to learn. Granted, done correctly, its faster, more secure, and more stable... But the beauty of windows and why it takes more popularity is that any jackass can grab a windows server and just by reading help files for 5-10 minutes get a working domain controller with dns and dhcp running. heh, samba is just a TAD harder to just pick up and make work.
What does all this mean? Sounds like I am saying windows is better than linux. Of course, if you actually read this far (linux guys only.. M$ people read everything looking for "features") than let me say that I prefer linux for server and windows for desktop.
I will be converting my Windows 2003 domain controller over soon to probably gentoo and doing a stage 1 build. I have found replacements for all my programs and services I ran in windows, but it was not easy. Yeah, linux has a bunch of really great programs, but they don't do anything SPECIAL.
I was really surprised how hard it was to find a simple bandwidth throttler for realtime throttle (not time based) on a site by site basis at the nic level for apache... whereas IIS has it built in.
Linux takes LONGER. Plain and simple. Like anything GOOD in life, there is more work involved, more learning, more searching, writing your own code. Overall its a better product when YOU want to control what YOU have.
Problem none of you seem to get, is that YOU are not the majority. Everyone else wants a easy to use up and running system NOW with minimal work to get it going and to use it. Linux is FAR from that stage, and I really hope it never gets there. I don't want AOL linux... so user friendly, I can't.
On a security basis... I will just say you are ALL wrong and ALL right.
Windows is insecure. Linux is insecure.
Anyone that says they ARE secure or can be made secure easily, IS PLAIN OUT WRONG. Too many backdoors and exploits are avaliable for BOTH systems for ANY of you to even start to say one is more secure than the other. If there is a hole, your not secure... and there are holes in both. It doesn't matter who has more holes, YOU ARE INSECURE.
On that I would like to point out that last year M$ only had 32 exploited exploits, Linux had over 140. What does that mean? It means that microsoft is catching more and more exploits themselves.
Linux has long been said to be the "godsend" of security, and its pretty good, but now that it is starting to become more mainstream, all those exploits that are not supposed to exist, and starting to exist. Linux is now in the same place microsoft was 6 years ago, just finding out how unsecure they really are. In linuxs credit, they are by far PWING microsofts security 6 years ago.
IE:
Linux now is like microsoft 6 years ago and as secure NOW than M$ is NOW. If that doesn't make sense.. oh well, its a complement to linux, but still a problem.
All in all, windows and linux both have too many problems for you guys to waste your time on argueing which is better. As it stands, they are both swiss cheese, and both have thier nitch.
I think someone would be SMART to not try and make thier program something that it is not.
Microsoft should not make its ferarri a truck, and linux should not make its armoured car a roadster.
6.4.7.3 (Dec 22, 2003 - 11:02 AM)
This is actually a VERY big win, and the courts probably did it becuase they already saw damn near any company that could start to jump on the sue using the DCMA..
I know that I had a friend get contacted from Universal Studios saying they would sue becuase his nephew started to download 2 fast 2 furious. Forget the fact they got about 200kb of it before it was canceled.....
On another note, if you do not own a full video, or a watchable copy, is it still piracy?
6.4.7.3 (Aug 28, 2000 - 2:33 PM)
I thought the reason USB is should be bothered with when there is firewire out.....
USB comes BUILT in to your motherboard at basically no extra $$ to me. Whereas firewire.. I should donate my first born..
