  1. Review - 1by1

    1.72 (Apr 4, 2011)

What a great little program. Just came across it while trying to find something less baffling, annoying and confusing than a well-known media player and, most importantly, without those chronic visualisations!! Lots of nice little features that are easy to pick up.

  2. Review - MP3Gain

    1.3.4 Beta (Feb 14, 2011)

Seems like it does a very good job that will help to save my hearing when using the in-ear phones. It didn't work on all the files I had in my batch, but if I put the ones it failed on through MP3normalizer (which doesn't seem to do much on its own), MP3Gain can then normalise them after all. Quality of the sound seems fine so I think that here is a program that will stop me going mutton jeff (deaf for non-c***neys)!

  3. Review - 7-Zip (64-bit)

    9.20 (Dec 7, 2010)

    Can unpack good-old unix .Z files - that's rare. Ultra-top quality.

  4. Review - SeaMonkey for Windows

    2.1 Alpha 2 (Aug 20, 2010)

An excellent web-browser. I started using SeaMonkey some time ago because it retains the composer feature of netscape but in the end I did not use that much (!), although, ever since, I have used SeaMonkey as my main browser on several machines, mainly because it is less quirky / annoying / baffling than IE, and is less red than Mozilla / Firefox (;-o)

    Keep up the great work.

  5. Review - avast! Free Antivirus

    5.0.462 (Mar 26, 2010)

I am very happy indeed with this program - it updates the virus database via my slow modem line and doesn't hammer my old windows 2000 machine every time you open a file. It found some viruses which had been on the computer for some time before I installed it, and has since detected others trying to sneak onto the system.... so I went pro, which is good value.
