jkamon... if Apple would license AAC to other companies then Yahoo/Real/Napster would support it.
In terms of the $60 yearly fee you complain about, I know people who pay that much per month for cable tv and they have to watch what is on at the time. Imagine if they could watch any show ever made at anytime.
You don't need to burn CDs if all the songs you like are instantly accessible. In the same respect, once cars support hook-ups to portable players or you can stream from satellite, access to music anytime anywhere will be the norm.
Fact is, of all my CDs, I maybe want permanent, physical copies of the top 10%. Everything else, I'm ok with renting on the go. Same with DVDs - after I bought the 15 or so I really want to keep forever, I use NetFlix for the rest.

Some things don't make sense...
* A "Windows Enthusiast" who just got into Win7 3 months ago? Any "Windows Enthusiast" I know was running the beta early 2009.
* 4+ minutes to boot Win7 on an i7 with 8GB of ram? No matter what you install, is this even possible? Maybe he got hit with malware.
* Needing Ultimate to access some files? I never heard of that requirement. Plus, for an IT guy, he is quite "vague" on what the issues were.
* He went to Devry and was not sure how to spell it.
I don't think this is a hoax but I'm not sure how much stock to put into ONE anecdote. I'd be more interestd in his impression a year from now.
If he has been doing IT since the 80's, maybe he's been a Unix fan all along?

In user testing, Microsoft found that nine out of every 10 features that customers wanted to see added to Office were already in the program.
"They simply don't know it's there," Chris Capossela, a Microsoft vice president, told a developer crowd last week. "It's just too hard to find it."

I hate all the bloated IBM software that Thinkpad's come with and download. It has seriously slowed down a decent XP laptop. Why oh why can't they use the native software??!!!
