Actually with the Precision desktops you can have Red Hat Linux v4 pre-loaded. You can also get servers pre-loaded with a variety of OS including Red Hat, SUSE and VMware.

Actually I just got 3 of the Optiplex 520GX desktops via my Dell corporate account, and they pre-installed Google Desktop and Google Earth. I immediately re-installed the OS.

  3. Comment - Microsoft Debuts E-Mail Hosting Service

    (Nov 21, 2005 - 1:32 PM)

I signed up myself and sent a test email. It added a MSN Messenger ad on the bottom :(

Wonder if I pay, will they drop the ads? I know you will have to pay to add Outlook support (POP/IMAP/etc) too.

Calendar currently isn't working for non-msn/hotmail accounts either.

Personally I think they should have launch this beta with Kahuna instead of a 2 step process.

You need the cell # to verify the tmobile account, and I would guess you need the SIM number to lock the device to that card for extra security. Centercode seems to do a lot of beta testing and been in service since 2001. I think it has proven itself as a trustworthy company.

What is with the wide range in users? The numbers keep going down, and the research comes from the same company. What gives?

Seattle PI reported ComScore Networks research on Aug 23:
    MSN: 189.7 million users
    Yahoo!: 78.8 million users
    AOL: 64.4 million users

CNet reports ComScore Media Metrix on Aug 31st
    AOL: 41.6 million users
    Yahoo!: 19 million users
    MSN: 14 million users

And this Betanews story says comScore Media Metrix:
MSN + Yahoo!: 33.5 million users
    AOL: 23 million users
