  1. Review - Nero

    9.2.6.0 (Dec 18, 2008)

    (To Qlib)

Yes, you can pick the stuff you want...after you downloaded 150+ meg's worth of program, which after its installed (and don't get me started about the 'slowwwww' installation)takes up a fair amount of disk space, even after you've deselected half of the stuff!

My feelings are still the same...

  2. Review - Opera for Windows

    10.0 Build 1139 Alpha 1 (Dec 5, 2008)

    "THIS IS FREAKIN' FAST!!!"

Excellent browser that is way better than Google Chrome. But I did find one bug...

After trying it out, I did find one bug with Java web sites. When trying to access my e-mail at blueridgectc.edu, which uses Sun's Java e-mail client, the browser seems to hang for a very long time.

Hope this will be fix soon.

  3. Review - openSUSE

    11.1 RC1 (Nov 30, 2008)

OpenSUSE 11.1 does look nice and all that...But one thing that I haven't noticed is about the internet connection, specificly not auto detecting my connection so when it boots up I have no internet. This is not a good thing and since most other distro's are able to auto detect your internet connection why can't openSUSE do the same.

Yes, I know you can go into the network settings to manually configure it and I'm just being nit picky, but for a modern OS to not do this is just plain wrong.

  4. Review - avast! Free Antivirus

    4.8.1287 (Nov 18, 2008)

Excellent performance. Won't use anything else...and along with "ThreatFire" it makes it a system hardener!

  5. Review - Orca Browser

    1.1 Beta 3 (Sep 30, 2008)

Just finished trying out Orca web browser, and I must say it is nice looking and fast. But there are a few important bugs that need to be ironed out.

    1) Not very Fire Fox plugin friendly. Even though its based on the FireFox Gecko 3.0 code, I had some problems installing a couple addons. I mean, I was able to access the site and install them, but when I went to see what I had added, at first they would not show up. But after I had restarted the browser a few times they finally did show. Plus, the addon icons do not appear in the lower screen task bar show I had no idea if they were working.

    2) Cut and pasting web links is not working and needs to be fixed.

    3) No clear path to where your downloads are located, nor can you change this. I checked the options and this does not appear to be indicated.

Over all, Orca is a decent browser and I will give it another look when it is a stable release.
