  1. Comment - Windows Phone 7 is doomed

    (Jul 3, 2010 - 9:11 PM)

What a completely RIDICULOUS assessment.. Take it from someone who is close to all of the Windows Phone 7 app development out there or a good majority. This article doesn't even come close to what's going on or what you will see in their app store when this launches.

Maybe Joe is just out of the loop on all the cool applications being developed for it and all of the great UI being developed for these applications thanks to tools like Visual Studio 2010, Silverlight and Expression Blend.. Maybe he's just a big Apple and Google fan..

If you believe techchrunch which you should, "Windows 7 Sells 7 Copies Every Second, 150 Million Copies Total Sold So Far.."

    Source:
    http://techcrunch.com/20...3/windows-7-150-million/

That's hardly sipping on the back porch swing and sipping wine coolers..

The advantage of the Win Phone 7 is a great web browser which so far is very compliant with about every website out there (you can test this on the emulator software now if you disbelieve). Also, it will have Adobe Flash as an option.. So if you are sipping the kool-aid that the PC era is over it's just wishful thinking and doesn't really get to the fact that what a PC is has changed fundamentally and will continue to.

The advantage of Windows Phone 7 are all of the hubs and providing the information a user wants without swimming in a sea of ICONS. Gone of the days of Windows 3.1 like program groups/folders and launcher screens. Also the phone has a killer XNA video game capabilities augmented to developers by XNA Game Studio 4 (which all the major xbox games are developed on) not to mention Xbox Live ..

In my opinion, the kin failed because of the device design, no apps, and really bad marketing by the carrier and probably no games or entertainment.. I completely believe the Windows Phone 7 development is the reason KIN wasn't successful. Everyone is waiting for Windows Phone 7.. maybe if paris hilton would have been promoting these former "danger" devices it would have been another story..

I believe Microsoft is on the verge of making a big comeback in 2010 and betting against the underdog especially a "Microosft" is like swimming upstream..

  2. Comment - Gauging the impact of the Office 14 delay

    (Feb 25, 2009 - 5:06 PM)

Interesting article, yet more lame responses that are anti-Microsoft from Linux and Apple Fanboys who just don't even have their facts correct.. None of the Office formats are proprietary anymore..

For those with any kind of Office 2007 document, try renaming the file extension from whatever it is to .zip and you can open and read the files as XML and separate graphics.. How much more open can you get??

Here's a helpful suggestion for those who are having trouble learning office 2007's new ribbon and menus..

    Go to this website:

    http://www.officelabs.co...ands/Pages/default.aspx

download the office 2007 searchcommands extension and it will make your life a lot easier.

  3. Comment - Moonlight 1.0 means more Silverlight apps run smoothly on Linux

Silverlight is great, I can't wait to see Moonlight 2.0..

  4. Comment - WPF/E Becomes 'Silverlight:' Microsoft Takes on Flash Directly

    (Apr 16, 2007 - 9:57 PM)

I have been using WPF/E silverlight for months already in the preview version. It's a very cool multimedia system, though I really don't find it has much in common with Flash, mostly because it's very good at integrating with other Web technologies, like SQL databases, ASP.NET, PHP. The whole design methodology lends to serious customization (especially when using it as a media player). The whole thing is designed to just do what it needs to and integrate with other technologies. I like it's event model better than Flash and honestly it's good client technology even if you are a Mac developer.
