  1. Review - CopyTrans Manager

    0.971 (Feb 9, 2012)

While it is true that CopyTrans Manager (Free) is indeed free, and is okay.

Perhaps the download link here originally was pointed at CopyTrans which is a trial.

The features I was looking for, specifically to export tracks to my computer, are not in CopyTrans Manager (Free).

I will assume it was my misunderstanding and there was no false advertising on the developers part. Not completely sure I was wrong before, but it could have happened.

I would recommend this nice app, and very much recommend buying the more robust CopyTrans.

  2. Review - avast! Free Antivirus

    7.0.1396 Beta (Feb 8, 2012)

Version 7 seems to be running as smoothly as version 6.

This is my favorite free AV. Perhaps the prior reviewer missed the "No Thanks" link on the download page. There's no subterfuge on Avast's part, that's for sure.
I can't imagine what could be better.

  3. Review - AVG Anti-Virus Free

    2012 12.0.1901 (Dec 28, 2011)

First off, I would not run any computer without antivirus installed. While virus are not as popular as they used to be, they are still out there waiting.
Any mention of how much slower they make your computer is ill informed at this point. The slow down is so negligible, nobody even bothers to do a benchmark while disabling antivirus.
The real issue at this point is spyware, and will do as much or more damage than a virus (the fake Antivirus 2012 for example). It is important to also install at least the free Super-Antispyware for example. AVG and Avast do not block spyware, although they both mention that they do.
With both AV and Antispyware running at least you are almost protected.
AVG is good, and you can look here for real world protection results: http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart2.php. Although I have been using Avast, I may switch back to AVG now that I see this chart...
I would give AVG a five if it blocked rootkit spyware's like AV2012, for that you have to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to get rid of it.

    Also: get it from http://www.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-download

  4. Review - IObit Uninstaller

    2.1 (Dec 10, 2011)

I'm gonna have to agree with Bobad that this app works great.

i had a broken install and this app removed that as well.

  5. Review - CopyTrans Manager

    0.953 (Oct 18, 2011)

    Ok.

I see it is the description posted here at fileforum that is wrong.

"CopyTrans Manager is a fast, light and free iTunes alternative"

It is not free. It is FREE to download. On Google it is listed as Free Trial, or Free to download. Also unfortunately on copytrans.net it is described as "Faster, Lighter, Still Free"

I cannot find a function of this utility that is actually free. Even the "free" functions are hampered by a nag screen immediately before the app quits.

Besides the false advertising, it is a great app if you are going to buy it. Probably if there was not the implied freeness, i would rate it a five.
