Well for the first time I agree with the MPAA. cause I want to be able to pull my Files off MY DVR HD and not be dependant on their crappy network streaming concept.
If I have a DVR I want to pull my files off my unit at any time which is 100% possible with today's technology. sure most cable systems turn that feature off, But I simply turn it back on and USB or Ethernet my files to my computer for storage. Its rather easy if you know how. And there is NOTHING the MPAA can do about it as it is 100% the same thing as a Dam VCR recording the show at broadcast to Tape. And if they think it isn't they they are the one wrong not I.
Cause I have plenty of legal standing and resources to take this through the courts, which is something the industry fears more then any thing else... The Concept Of Fair Use making it back to a court case in reguards Television Broadcasts would Destroy them in their eyes... Just as the Video Tape Betamax ruling destroyed the Movie industry back in the 80's Yea RIGHT!!! What are you smoking MPAA? $100 bills?

I stopped using them all together. all of them. And because of it my music purchases went from 3 or 4 cds a year to ZERO. that's right NOTHING. I have zero interest in anything they have produced in the last 5 to 10 years... If I want to hear it I put on the radio. Or I listen to my already extensive CD and MP3 Collection.
Piece of free advice, since that is about all you can get for free anymore. (I'm just waiting for them to pull radio out of the air soon) Any new artists that want to make money... Forget the studios. get yourself known online first, and mass produce your own labels. Set up a webstore to sell them. It's not as expensive or difficult as you may think. And its 100% profit to the artists, not the corporate giants that are turning your fan base into criminals with a flick of a pen.
The truth is Fair Use is gone... The industry wanted rid of it back in the 60s with tape recorders and VCRs, and could not manage to pull it off. But because of ignorance OR Greed, not for sure which was more prevalent, they got away with it now. Will it remain as more educated people get into the courts and Political office? IDK. I hope not. Personally I would be dancing in the street naked with glee if the RIAA and MPAA were forced to close its doors and have the artist represent themselves and their own profiteering at some point in the future. It would be a win win situation all around.
As it stands now the aforementioned organizations are tantamount to Racketeering and thrawt with collusion, and corruption in representation. They Extort Funds from sources on the threat of lawsuits on a regular bases, both corporately and privately. Not actually filing them and dropping the case mind you, just the threat.... If they were forced to file it costs them something after all. And they run the risk of setting a precedence that they may LOOSE. And Finally if they do loose (which they have in the past) they will continue to file a case endlessly on appeal after appeal until the defendant has no further resources but to capitulate, or they get a rulling that they then set in gold forever like the previous rullings never happened.
Basically its their way or no way. so face it the only way to be rid of them is to elect politicians whose goal is not to accept donations from such organizations and do what they are told, but to shut these organizations down and expose them for what they are!!!
BTW: if it means that the 50 to 60 million users of such systems are criminals, then I'm all for it. lets convict every one of them throw them in jail right now. Guess what? you can't cause who is left? Lets do this. Make the USA a penal colony Throw a huge wall around it with barbed wire and say. Congratulations were all now criminals. now continue about your business. and we will remove the wall when everyone becomes honest citizens.
If I am considered a felon for downloading music and TV shows (that I sometimes record on my PVR as well) before I get riped off for buying a CD or DVD that sucks... well then I guess I am one then. Everything I like I own. period. What I sampled and didn't like is long gone. And I have saved thousands by doing this. If that is against the law, so be it. I anxiously await my day in court when I drudge out my hundreds of CDs and DVDs I have purchased through the years and challenge them to prove I have not purchased what I have digitally in my systems for convenience.

you know. its interesting. I mean any posesion of anything even remotely close to child porn on a computer is a felony. Even if it was an unsolicited popup ad. Its time to pose a question... Have you cleaned out your internet temp folder lately?
I'm pretty straight forward in what I do. some games and such, and mostly news sites and general web browsing. and I block most ads with blockers. However I went into my temp folder today and just browsed through some of the stuff that gets sent to you via content streams and popups, which I normally do not see... DISGUSTING!!! God only knows what all is in there... I just purged the whole thing.
Piece of advice, clear your temporary folders out on occasion.
