I couldn't figure out how to make this one work, but I have to admit I didn't dig into the documentation at all. (Real men don't read instructions.) In my impatience, I just opened my wallet and went with a "shareware" application that had a simple intuitive interface that worked the first time I tried the demo.
1.5.29969 Beta (Jun 28, 2012)
Been using an old version of KMP for years, but thought I'd try PotPlayer after reading of the "bloat/adware" problems reported about newer versions of KMP. PotPlayer prompted me to install updated DirectX drivers, but the linked Microsoft download wouldn't install on my Win2K. PotPlayer started OK, but cautioned me it couldn't find ??? to provide audio and video. Fortunately I had installed it Using TotalUninstall so I was able to remove all traces of it. I'm sticking with my reliable KMP v2.9.3.1413.
10.1.0.1629 (May 27, 2011)
Today's version (05/27/11) seems to be broken. It won't run. It doesn't even display its own icon. Keep the version that was issued on 05/25/11.
1.1.3 (Aug 24, 2010)
I liked it. I liked that it carried all its own codecs, and seemed to be more solid than KMPlayer, although it doesn't seem to have all the features of KM, and has a bigger footprint.
2.5.1 (Oct 17, 2009)
This one worked perfectly for me for some simple edits and file-type conversions, right out of the box, and it was "intuitive" enough that I didn't have to crack open the HELP file.
2.5.1 (Mar 16, 2007 - 12:50 PM)
Doesn't work on Win95.
