i absolutely love the whole KDE software collection. It has some very useful innovative features like desktop-wide tagging/rating/commenting of iles. And you can make semantic connections between files and e-mails and places and other pieces of data. And you can use all this information later when searching for some info or working on a project. Simply awesome. Windows manager is also awesome. simply the most powerful I've ever used, also supports basic tilling and tabbing features. Part of KDE are also some of the best Linux apps that I would also like to see on Windows (like okular, Digikam, k3b, Kdenlive). And the desktop itself is just genius, it is all modular and made of basic components/widgets called Plasmoids. and they are not just an annoying addon like on other desktops. The entire desktop is actually built out of them, like you can build with LEGO bricks. This makes desktop extremely flexible and anyone can built it exactly the way she wants. not to mention how gorgeous KDE desktop looks even by default. And with some extra theming and tweaking it can become ven better looking.

GIMP is an excellent application for working with bitmap images. At first I was also a bit confused with the interface but I didn't give up so quickly as the others and now I find it very usefull and logical. I highly recommend GIMP to anyone who can't afford the very expensive commercial apps. It does almost everything and it is completely free. It is also nice that you can run it in Linux.

My sister told me about Skype and I like it a lot. Simple, great sound and there is also works in Linux. It will be a nice addition to communicating over Jabber.

Still very nice Jabber application. I'm using it a lot in Linux. BTW you can also download it with emule and similar ED2K applications. Links are here:

Simply the best browser for me. It helped me get rid of all popups and spywre I was getting thru Internet Explorer. Firefox also loads pages quite a bit faster. A very important thing for me is also that it is regularly translated into my mother language. I can't live without tabs anymore and the support for new internet standards is superb. It is great to be using a modern and secure browser. Thanks for this awsome piece of software Mozilla team!

Upgraded my Mandriva Linux to 4.5 and loving it. they did a very nice job in latest versions by adding basic tabbing and tilling features to window management. And I love the new ability to start dragging windows from any part of window that doesn't have content. Simply awesome. great job KDE!

First of all congatulations and a big thanks to developers, artists and everyone else who make it possible for us to use this awsome browsers. Firefox is simply the best. Fast, secure and a lot of very nice modern features. Extensions and themes are also a great thing. I don't even use anything else for browsing. Well from time to time I check out Opera which is also quite OK. Ie doesn't even come close to these two browsers.

Who would even use IE and OE when we have Firefox and Thunderbird which are more secure, have more features and are developed much faster. They also look a lot better and you can use themes to change the looks if you don't like the default one. And the developers actualy listen to uses when they ask them for some new feature.

I'm so glad I switched from Hotmail to GMail. No more service interruptions, cleaner and faster interface, and POP3 access with any e-mail client like Thunderbird. And now even more space. GMail is just awsome.

Thank you Google for this! I'm using Wikipedia a lot and it is becoming quite slow here. So I hope they accept this offer and make it faster. It is a truly nice encyclopedia that is created in a spirit of sharing knowledge in a similar way that opensource does it with apps. This is the way to go in the future!
