  1. Review - nVIDIA GeForce Drivers for Windows

    53.03 Official WHQL (Dec 9, 2003)

Works fine with my FX 5900. *Minor* speed increase (like, 5fps in UT2K3) - nothing impressive. Didn't know about the HDTV-out thing (but very interested to figure out how to use it). With regards to the people that seem to have problems with this driver release... don't blame nVidia for your own incompetence. Peace.

  2. Review - Miranda IM

    0.3 (Jun 24, 2003)

This proggie rules!!! Been using it for a month now, and i've no intention of going back to msn/icq/trillian. There is no other program that is more flexible and feature-full than Miranda IM. And perhaps all the other companies (say, Trillian) can learn a thing or two... ICQ did one good thing: online DB of contacts. Miranda is one of the very very few (if not the only one) that supports that. Booya.

  3. Review - DivX for Windows

    5.0.5a (May 26, 2003)

I cannot believe some of these ret***s that have "reviewed" this thing... If you don't know what you're talking about, please stop wasting other people's time...

Adware/Spyware: well folks, we live in a commercial world, and some people actually try to make a living by coding software. weird concept, huh? as in, it's their f&%$ing JOB, and generally speaking, people get paid at their place of employment. so, if you don't like adware/spyware (no one does), use the g**d*** free version. it's not that crippled.

And since when is 3.11a better than divx 5? "far superior"? why don't you encode the same vid clip with both encoders, at the same bitrate, and see what happens. i guarantee that divx5 will look better and will generally be smaller... not to mention the fact that encoding in divx5 takes considerably less time.

With regards to divx5 performing poorly/skipping frames/whatever else: just like any other piece of software, as new versions come out, they become more demanding on hardware. If the hardware can't do what the user has set divx5 to do (keep in mind people, there's options for people mediocre videocards), then it has no chance of running properly.

    my two cents.

  4. Comment - AOL Unleashes Final Communicator

    5.0.5a (Aug 13, 2003 - 7:45 PM)

greater good as opposed to the greater profit? i'm sorry, perhaps you didn't notice... food costs money, gas costs money, sewage (yes, the turds that go down the tubes) processing costs money. so why exactly should software be free, when countless hours and many people's work has been involved in the making of it?

as much as some people hate paying for software, we live in a business world, where $hit is not free.
