  1. Review - Fedora Linux

    19 Alpha (Apr 23, 2013)

This is an excellent distro - but only if you have a very uncomplicated partitioning setup. I defy anybody to tell me how you could setup a RAID5 for examp[le - especially with other OS's on the disks. I need to take an upgrae path form FC17-Fedora18 (and maybe the Alphia if I can). This was very easy in Fedora 17. So because of he new Anaconda installer it gets a 3 (but for me a 0)

  2. Review - Ubuntu

    13.04 (Raring Ringtail) Beta 2 (Apr 5, 2013)

For those that hate Unity - I do to. First thing I do is install Ubuntu-gnome-desktop which is quite good (if you like Gnome3). Also install KDE,LXDE etc etc. Lots of desktops to install. Then install Synaptic or use the Ubuntu Software to get quite a few good apps. Also yo9u can install gnome-tweak-tool or Ubuntu tweak or what and make the Unity desktop to your liking (I don't use it anyway.

  4. Review - LibreOffice for Windows

If you have modest needs (Writer, Spreadsheet, Presentation - take a look at the Kingsoft Office Suite.

  5. Review - Ubuntu

    12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1 (Sep 8, 2012)

Hard to give this a meaningful rating since it depends on how you customize this OS. I agree that Unity is crappy but as soon as iI install Ubuntu I then install Gnome3. I know people hate it - and I did too - but now that I've learned to use it I like it. Anyway I'v been upgrading since before the alpha and its good if you keep at every day.

  6. Comment - Opera 11 final version published

    12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1 (Dec 16, 2010 - 10:39 PM)

Opera is indedd a very nice browser. The only beref I had with this install was that Opera decided for me it would bwe the defaecate browser. without asking.

  7. Comment - Google Chrome takes more than just inspiration from Mozilla

    12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1 (Sep 3, 2008 - 10:51 AM)

Itr is up to something - and like M$ is trying to absorb your computer. As I said it tries to add swg to the startup - I deny this using Spybot Teatimer. I'm tempted to sandbox this app when I get a chance.

  8. Comment - Google Chrome takes more than just inspiration from Mozilla

    12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1 (Sep 2, 2008 - 5:46 PM)

    Agree with the poster below.

    1) No options that I could see during install
    2) Wanted to install Google own "phone home" code - blocked using Comodo firewall.
    3) Somewhat chilling indication that Google wants (and mostly has) "own" the Interest. No wonder Ballmer has been reported as having a s..t fit whne Google is mentioned in his presence.
    5) Can't close the browser using the exit tab in the upper left corner of every program. Have to close it from the task bar.

Even after it closed still tried to modify at least 4 protected registry keys. Allowed this (but NOT as a trusted application) because I was sure it would completely fail otherwise.

    But most interestingly:

    5) Imported all FF bookmarks EXCEPT for Betanews!

Will use Revo Unistaller to get rid of it bye and

It does promise to be pretty fast because according to the video on its home page Javascript was tweaked

  9. Comment - Corel Debuts Free WordPerfect Beta

    12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1 (Feb 28, 2007 - 10:07 AM)

Corel.com says no betas are being tested.
How did you guys get it - or perhaps you are talking about vaporware

  10. Comment - 22% of Windows Installs Non-Genuine

    12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1 (Jan 24, 2007 - 10:06 AM)

Perhaps $MS should limit their witch hunt for evil hackers to those aren't genuine??

This sent using gmail on firefox running Ubuntu. Fedora is pretty good as well. If MS$ is to survive they need to open source their spaghetti code
