   The problem with the whole thing is the 1 thing people dont reecognize is that Apple DOES have a few mechanisms in place for 3rd party products to access your iTunes music library and "sync". All Palm needs to do is create a little app that actually uses that system to do the sync...instead of taking the lazy way out, and exploiting a flaw in the iTunes software...and "borrowing" (for lack of a better word) the Apple USB ID to fool iTunes into thinking it was an iPod.
   
   Zune Marketplace is EXACTLY the same thing....Microsoft is not responsible or obligated to make it work with ANYTHING other than the Zune. Apple has provided legit and documented (and widely used) ways to integrate 3rd party products.
   
   Apple has every right to lock out third party products from directly syncing with iTunes if they want...it is software to strictly support their hardware. Cannon or Nikon camera software doesn't recognize the others hardware either....or Scanner software from Epson doesn't work with HP scanners.....
   
   Everyone needs to take a step back and realize this. Apple did fix an issue with their software that allowed third party devices to falsely be recognized as iPods. Apple did NOT lock out vendors from being able to sync using iTunes as the media manager...
