  1. Review - Opera for Windows

    9.12 Build 8701 Beta (Jan 21, 2007)

Opera doesn't have tab groups but it does have sessions. You can save the state of all open tabs as a session and then open an entire session in one go or have a specific session load up when you start Opera.

Or, alternatively you can just create folders in your bookmarks list and open up its entire contents in one go.

You can also tell Opera to start up where you left off with all open tabs which I think is great.

I don't agree with you that Opera lacks functionality, quite the opposite.

  2. Review - AVG Anti-Virus Free

    7.5.430a828 (Nov 5, 2006)

I must admit that's how I first read the message, but if you look at it a little more closely it also has a link to version 7.5 free edition (if you've missed it, here it is again!)

  3. Review - FeedDemon

    2.0 Beta 1 (Jan 21, 2006)

Go to View / Browser Position and set the browser to be on the right and it's back pretty much to how it was in v1.6.

And to those whining about the NewsGator business - it was an idea that the author posted asking for comments. As the feedback was negative, the subscription model was not adopted.

So, full marks to Nick for listening to his audience. And for release v2.0 as a free upgrade!

In all honesty, I don't use RSS as much as I should so I use Opera, but FeedDemon certainly is a top piece of software.

  4. Review - Opera for Windows

    8.00 Build 7561 (Apr 18, 2005)

Unbelievably tight if you can't afford $15 to upgrade...!! That's hardly breaking the bank. But you can get the ad-version if it's too expensive for you.

The thing is Opera is a company and they have to make money somehow. In my opinion, you DO get a higher quality browser (and RSS reader!) than you do with Firefox anyway. But everyone has their own taste.

Not sure if this is an official final release or not, but Opera has always been the best browser for me - big thumbs up for this.

(EDIT: Just installed and with my Opera 6 licence, which was upgraded free to Opera 7, it looks like I'm still registered and don't need to pay! Wahey!! It also doesn't say "Opera 7.6 Preview Release" for me)

  5. Review - Beyond Compare

    2.2.5 Build 223 (Oct 27, 2004)

Looks like BC *does* support Unicode. I think maybe it already did but only in 2.2.6 did it offer automatic recognition of Unicode files.

So for me it's just about perfect now.
