3.1.0.0 (Dec 10, 2011)
According to the site, The KMPlayer 3.1.0.0 is Beta, and is now called KMP+, also, it's gone open source. Nice to see a major update, here's hoping it's a solid step forward.
Be sure to opt out of all the crap when installing.
It's got "Media Center" style now, with "Apps" (looks like Tv series, K-POP videos, and games at the moment) and a "Service Store", but the menu options are pretty much the same, but there are some new additions.
I'll have to give it some use later when I get a chance.
2.40 Beta 1 (Sep 25, 2011)
Look under add-ons on their site, the1st link is to an unofficial windows port.
I haven't tried it yet (and I don't have a mac), so I can't say anymore about either.
I'l probably give the port a shot when I get a chance, and if it's better than utorrent, then I'll switch.

3.0.0.1442 (Sep 21, 2011)
I too switched to Daum Potplayer several months ago, which is from the original author of KMPlayer, though you have to do a search to find the translated version.
I'll have to give 3.0.0.1442 a try since I've found all players sometimes have problems with certain files that other players don't. It's good to have an arsenal just in case.
KMPlayer has always been a really good player, but it hasn't been as actively developed since it was sold. I just hope that Real Networks being one of KMPmedia's partners doesn't turn it to crap.

If you go to the site there's a video that shows you how to get a free license key.

So far it looks pretty impressive, I don't think I've seen so many options in other SS software I've tried.

@ all the "Ask Toolbar" comments...is it really that difficult to uncheck 1 tick box?
@ been...without your consent? I wonder how I've managed to dodge the Ask Toolbar installation each time I've updated (could it possibly be that I actually read before clicking & you didn't?).
To the aforementioned;
If unchecking 1 tick box is too much for you to handle then this player is definitely WAY too advanced for you! Kindly step away from the keyboard and no one gets hurt. You may also want to consider improving your reading comprehension skills while you're at it.
Rating an excellent program 1 star because it has OPTIONAL Ask Toolbar included? A bit harsh just because you don't know how to uncheck a tick box don't you think. Do you also rate all other programs (no matter how good the are) with totally optional toolbars, etc. 1 star? It's a free program, the authors may just want a chance at some compensation for their work, but they make it an option. I'm just wondering how you'd handle the situation...you'd probably just make it payware, am I right? I bet you'd also whine if they dumped the optional toolbar and made KMPlayer payware (or any other free program that did so).
This has been my default player for ~2 years or so & it has played just about anything I've thrown at it. I haven't found anything that does as much and as well as KMPlayer. GOM Player never quite measured up & was always more buggy in my experience. KMPlayer plays some videos fine that VLC renders poorly. Yes I've found some files that KMPlayer has had problems with that another player did ok with, but it's a rarity.
It has a lot of advanced features & settings that can be overwhelming when you dig in (I've had to figure out how to undo a few things I'd accidently done by accidently keying in shortcuts), but that also maked it highly customizable. It does more than any other media player I know of.
Perfect? no, but consistantly better than any of the other media players I've tried in the past or recently.

Fine them based on the **AAs method for sueing file sharers, fine based on # of IDs and the amount of data sold, throw in an abstract # for the potential # of times that the companies that bought the info might resell it, then go after any of those companies found, ...ad infinitem.

Or make the white case and put an opaque coating on the inside so black doesn't show when scratched. How can they not think of these common sense ways to fix a problem? Too much effort put into marketing & not enough into R&D.

A Porsche Cayenne?!
Me thinks they get a wee bit more funding than necessary. I wonder who'll be getting a free Cayenne out of this deal.

Too late to edit...
I meant Vista not XP.

Firefox sometimes crashes with the "Well this is embarassing" error report window.
Some sites make IE8 (and shells) hang & pop "Out of memory at line 1" (never had that happen until I installed W7 64, not even on these same sites, and it was IE8 then too), but I've had it shut down before Opera crash at times, but not as often.
Many shells can be kinda buggy, some were solid under XP, seems like now many are in constant beta. Add-ons/extensions/plugins can be buggy as well. No software is bug free & some have functions we've grown so accustomed to that we rely on them, so we put up with glitches hoping they'll squash the bugs sooner than later.
