    Not true at all.... Where are we in internet speed to the home... No where near the top. In Canada it was "MANDATED" that telecoms deliver high speed data to households. Back when I was getting raped by Ameritech for .78kB service ($40US a month). My friend in a town of less that 10k population in was getting T1 service (1.2MB/s) for ($25CDN) a month. Business only does what is in the interest of the shareholder not in customer value.

    If we didn't mandate phone companies to provide rural service. There still wouldn't be copper out there.

    Now that I live in the sticks... I get internet via 803b11. If AT&T had their way they'd put my carrier out if business and still not provide service. So, your position rings very hollow.
