  1. Review - Nero

    9.0.9.4b (Sep 29, 2008)

Nero started as a burning app. Nowdays it is not just a burning app so do not blame it for being pretty complete suite of multimedia related tools instead of just a burning app. It is very good for burning and all disc related functions.

Although it would be nice if they offered a liter version with just the burning functions. I personally don't care about the file size even if it were a few gbs. i have 12 mb/s connection but for some people it is an issue.

But as it was said CDBurnerXP is a very good program if only burning functions are required. And it's free.

  2. Review - K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

    3.5.3 (Oct 26, 2007)

The best and very complete codec pack. It's a shame that they removed QuickTime Alternative.

Note that QTA was removed because Apple demanded it. So it is not coming back. Complain to Apple instead of dropping the points here!

  3. Review - URLBase Professional

    6.1.0.1130 (Oct 15, 2007)

A very good bookmark manager and feed reader. Has a good looking and user friendly interface. Can import from and export to all major browsers very quickly.

It has a good feature set, not too much of anything and works for almost anyone who needs a good bookmark manager. Still there is room for improvement.

I paid for it and have found it to be a good investment but it still is just a bookmark manager and a feed reader, although a very good one.

It had a few very annoying bugs but as far as I can tell all the critical bugs that cased crashes all the time are completely fixed.

  4. Review - AMD Catalyst Drivers for Windows

    7.9 (Sep 12, 2007)

Personally I like the new Control Center much more than the old control panel. I don't really care if it takes up a lot of system resources - I've had enough for years. Sure this isn't the case for everyone.

Only thing that I hate about these is that I should always remove to old drivers before updating to the newest. It usually works fine but sometimes it ends up messing things up.

But for sure, there's much room for improvement.

  5. Review - Mozilla Firefox (v3) for Windows

    3.0 Alpha 6 (Jul 4, 2007)

    To darkripper:

One of the main ideas of Firefox is that it is "empty" after a basic install for those who don't want or need any additional features. And for people like me it who want to have an advanced browser with lot's of features it has very good extension system that allows you to easily add the features you want. And there's a lot of extensions.

Opera is a very good browser and it has very good features but in my opinion it's interface has a lot to improve to get more users switch to it. It isn't even close to the simplicity that Firefox offers. All less experienced users that I've seen using Opera have said this. They also don't read much instructions if they aren't just next to the item feature that they are using...

I'm giving Firefox the highest rating because it is my first choice and recommendation for everyone exactly because it's suitable for all users and can be fully customized to every user's liking. It supports standards very well and is stable and secure.

Of course there's always much to improve in everything but it is at least updated quite often and it's development is secured for a long time.

  6. Comment - McAfee Releases New Security Suites

    3.0 Alpha 6 (Aug 1, 2006 - 5:08 PM)

McAfee has done what I have wanted for a long time. I've been their user for many years and always liked their software and this new version finally does what I've been waiting for. It has all the features of VirusScan, AntiSpyware and Personal Firewall. And what's best they can all be used from the same Security Center so that it has some real use than just to show your security status and work as a program launcher.

This of course is just my opinion but I really like the new additions. I've tried many products including Norton, F-Secure, Panda, Avast (Free) and NOD32 but the only one I've really liked to use has always been McAfee.

McAfee offers packages which include different components - you should check out www.mcafee.com for more info.

  7. Comment - Netscape Confirms 7.2 Release Date

    3.0 Alpha 6 (Jul 28, 2004 - 11:37 PM)

Replace IE with Avant Browser and you dont have to use IE anymore...

Firefox + Thunderbird combination is the best but Opera comes close to second.
