    Note they are talking about copy controlled formats.

    Every other example you gave had the potential to empower users. Formats that take away your rights are not beneficial to users. Having suffered through attempts to take away my rights to listen to the music I purchased in the manner I see fit (portable digital player, mix cd, file on computer ect.)I have no love for those that would take my rights away. It irks me that they spend my money to keep me from listening to my music and it's a reason I will _never_ go with a "secure" propritary format when I move to buying digital files online.

    The Ogg Vorbis project is good for consumers and the industry as it is an open, patent free digital audio standard that works. MP3 while technicaly similar differs in those two areas.
