  1. Review - TagScanner

    5.1.600 (Sep 14, 2011)

Great app. Made fixing all my tags easy. Could not find the option to use FreeDB but no big deal since I was just fixing tags, didn't need to find any.

  2. Review - Spybot - Search & Destroy (Beta)

    2.0.3 Beta 1 (May 11, 2011)

Looks nice. Couple notes so far for the creators.

    1. "Business" is spelled wrong on the 2nd screen of the installer.
    2. SDUpdate.exe (i think) crashed after updating was completed.

  3. Review - Skype for Windows

    5.3.0.108 (Apr 7, 2011)

Installed fine here on Win 7 x64 Home Premium and ran fine as well. I did have to turn off Compatibility Mode for it in Windows first (i guess i had that on to fix a previous issue with Skype).

Gave 3 stars for mediocre audio quality compared to Google Voice and the software getting bloated. Still using it but only until Google gets a desktop client for GV, then i'm cancelling my subscription and phone #.

  4. Review - Songbird

    1.9.3.1959 (Feb 10, 2011)

Great media player but the lack of multi-folder watching means i can't use it. Maybe one day.

  5. Review - Microsoft Zune

    4.7.01 (Nov 30, 2010)

Awesome software, really love the interface. Only two major downsides and what's keeping me from using the software is poor support for audio and video formats and when moving the player from one monitor to another the playing video will restart.

  6. Comment - Should I renew my Skype number?

    4.7.01 (Jun 22, 2011 - 10:33 PM)

I cancelled my Skype # and calling plan earlier this year. The software is just plain bloated and the call quality compared to Google Voice is brutal. With Skype, i get delayed and tunnel-y sounding audio (and it's not a bandwidth issue, 30Mbps up/down).

I'd leave it cancelled for now, see what happens in the next 3-6 months after MS gets it's hands on it.

  7. Comment - Look to the heavens and fight malware with Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.5

    4.7.01 (Jun 21, 2011 - 8:10 PM)

I've never used Panda but i do know most (if not all) anti-malware scanners will detect keygens/cracks as some sort of virus.

  8. Comment - Now anyone, not just cops with a warrant, can peek inside your Dropbox

    4.7.01 (Jun 16, 2011 - 6:20 PM)

And to add to this. I'm sure there will be viruses that send these files back to home base so they can just access your files in the cloud (since Dropbox also stores the access key/cookie and with that you don't need the login information) [unless they fixed that now].

  9. Comment - Google pwns: Chrome goes untouched at hacking confab

    4.7.01 (Mar 10, 2011 - 5:19 PM)

I agree with the others posting. A lot of the hacks happen before the contest. Vupen hacked Safari in 5 seconds with something they worked on for a while and didn't get fixed in the last Safari patch.

It's quite possible someone had a hack for Chrome but Google updates so often, they may have fixed it before the contest started.

  10. Comment - Microsoft releases WebMatrix, new Web development freeware

    4.7.01 (Jan 13, 2011 - 3:22 PM)

I totally agree. Was excited to try this out until i noticed all the extra junk it wanted to install which shouldn't be required just for an Web Dev tool. You should be able to install just the client and get code highlighting and maybe some completion.
