Really?!? How much does it cost to upgrade you OS multiple times in the last 6 years. And, the work and effort and time to make those upgrades and te software as well.

No doubt Windows makes up most users. But I have 4 friends on Macs and 7 on chromebooks.

  5. Comment - My mother is getting a Chromebook

    1.0 Beta (Aug 1, 2011 - 2:42 AM)

    1) there is no "subscription" the cost of the chromebook includes two years of free verizon and, of course, has "Free" wifi

    2) Limited by design. As Joe said, she doesn't need the apps, just the functionality of a browser.

    3) Huh? How is he or his paying paying google? All the services are free.

I have six computers, including a linux machine and a brand new mac book pro 15. The two I used to most are my Xoom tablet and Chrome cr-48. Why? 99% of what I do is online and with them I have near-persistent internet connection, they boot instantaneously, no viruses, nothing to configure and all my settings and bookmarks are syncing. I give presentations across the country for a living and I present them using my Xoom connected to the projector (always supplied by the host for whom I'm presenting) via a HDMI cable and present using Google Presentations.

For me, this is the wave of the furure. It just works.

  6. Comment - Google+ is much more than a Facebook killer

    1.0 Beta (Jun 29, 2011 - 3:36 AM)

I like it. It is much more "open" than Facebook and integrates with my gmail and google contacts. Google already has a method of exporting my Google+ data (Google Takeout) - how long did it take FB to allow exporting of data?

And, it's searchable. As a business owner I WANT search engines to pick up what I post/do/discuss on Google+
