  1. Review - FastStone Image Viewer

    2.28 (Nov 16, 2005)

do none of these free viewers allow the option to open the image in a seprate window, moreover a window fit to the image size while allowing the browser to stay open seperatly hile retaining its size? Seriously, this seems like a feature that should always be included and easily found in options. it is incredibly helpful when running dual monitors or for refering to an image or more whil navigating folder trees to find more images. As it stands I can't switch to any of the free ACDSEE alternatives unill there is some kind of feature set that aloows this most basic of operations.

  2. Review - The GIMP

    2.3.5 (Nov 14, 2005)

Inkscape is a vector based app, the Gimp is raster based, it's completely different and comparing them is like...um comparing 2 things that are completely different. The Gimp is a great 2D raster app.

here, go read this so you don't embarrass yourself again:

  3. Review - Mandriva Linux

    10.2 RC1 (Mar 13, 2005)

    WHAT?!?!?

Are you being serious, or was that just a bad attempt at making a sarcastic joke about technophobes??? Regardless, Linux is a great OS. Mandrake is one of the more user friendly versions. It will and has become a more supported OS as it makes gains in popularity. I suggest instead of lambasting it in beta forums you take your complaints to the hardware manufacturer's for not adding Linux support in their boxed driver's.

  4. Review - The GIMP

    2.2.3 (Jan 26, 2005)

First of all the interface is fine. It was desinged for linux originally, alot of linux programs use this type of interface. OSX uses similar interfaces for various programs. Having multiple windows is great when running a dual monitor setup. I just don't understand the problem everyone seems to have with the interface. The overall program is extremely powerful and a great art app, even more so since it is FREE.

  5. Review - AbiWord for Windows

    2.2.2 (Dec 30, 2004)

Honestly, I've tried both Abiword and OpenOffice Writer. OpenOffice Writer is a much better offering. Far better tools and layout support. Setting up tables and formating pages, or creating templates in Abiword is a chore and often yields poor or unexpectedly erroneous results. OpenOffice on the other hand is extremely easy to use and always outputs things the way you'd expect with minimal effort. I would suggest that if you need a word processing program (but not and entire office suit) go ahead and download OpenOffice, choose "custom install" and just install "writer".

  7. Comment - After CEO, TiVo President Resigns

    2.2.2 (Feb 1, 2005 - 4:24 PM)

That is simply not true. The Comcast PVR is much better than tivo, mainly because it records in true HDTV format. While it is true that it might not be as idiot friendly as tivo, it is certainly not inadequate by any stretch of the imagination. Furthermore with tivo planning to do stupid s*** like adding banners when you fast forward and 10 second (or whatever) full screen ad spots when you skip commercials, I'll take anything over that BS any day. Even if that means i do have to have an intellectual understanding of modern day electronic devices which so obviously seem to befuddle your troglodyte friends and customers. I've seen the people that shop at best buy, and heard their rediculous questions and complaints, most of them should not be allowed within 50 yards of a VCR much less a PVR anyway. I've seen them scratching their heads as they attempt to match red, yellow, and white composite cables to red, green and blue component ins. C'mon now...
