IcemanAsakura - where did you get the MAD plug-in from and how do you load it? I have read up on it and the feedback is outstanding - really keen to try it.

I started using MediaMonkey years ago when my collection started to grow, and I got a Media Center PC. I was using WMP10 and had all sorts of issues (mainly files, images, ID3 tags moving, changing etc without my consent).
I then discovered MM - what a breath of fresh air. It gave me confidence and a great way to not only manage my library, but provide tools/scripts that I use all the time (mainly the case checker, auto increment of track number, sync tags and auto-update filename based on ID3 data).
And since WMP11, it started looking a bit 1995. So, what did they do, they brought all the best features of WMP11 and iTunes and melded them into ver3. Best of all, you can keep it as it was, or selectively use the new views. This should appeal to users of all media players.
If you are serious about your collection, want to ensure no other app changes it, and have a very big collection, nothing I have seen beats MM for these features. The biggest feature to me is the confidence in it's handling of my years of music.
Good work guys on Ver. 3. And to the skinners - the new V3 skins are awesome too. Well done!
1.7.1 Build 3360 (Jul 16, 2007)
I love uTorrent for its size, speed, features etc. When I saw that the original developer had sold it to the guys at BitTorrent.com (the guys that invented torrents), I was very nervous as these guys had sold out to the big studios/record labels about a year ago to stop being sued. I wondered if the client could be trusted. Well, today my fears were realised after receiving this:
"It has been determined that utorrent 1.7 and upwards has a bug that reports your stats incorrectly.
It has also been determined that it reports private info outside of the tracker.
we advise anyone using these versions to downgrade back to utorrent 1.6.1. you can download it by clicking HERE . Anybody using 1.7 or above does so at their own risk and we will not be given any user support."
I am going back to 1.6.1 and never upgrading. it pisses me off that this s*** can happen. I hope this causes a big backlash towards these guys.
Bongo...
ps, more info on uTorrent's OWN forums http://forum.utorrent.co....php?pid=262771#p262771
1.7 Build 2740 Beta (Jun 24, 2007)
This is the easiest, most stable and efficient torrent program ever. Nothing beats it. The only program that comes close is a Java app - what more can I say. Awesome!
1.7 Build 2740 Beta (Aug 3, 2011 - 9:44 PM)
I am actually really excited by it. I use Windows Phone so it's quite native to me. I think the parts that will ruin it are the regular Win 7 apps. But over thime this will change. It's a bold move, and could back fire on them. But it's time we progressed to a new interfacr. We've had this interface for 20 years now.

This feels very much like the "threat" Linux put up. I think we had 3 years that were named "the year of Linux". That died away.
This is a different proposition - cloud based OS. But the one thing that really differs between Google and MS is that MS ensure the spit and polish is there. And I suspect Windows 8 will be like Windows phone - massive cloud based integration.
I personally would prefer a thick OS with cloud integration over a full cloud solution. Maybe that's my age. Maybe the new genergations are more compfortable with the cloud.
The one thing that Netbooks showed me is that I am not willing to sacrifice functionality, features or perfromance. Hence why the first Tablet I would ever consider would have to run Windows, and be snappy. Enter Windows 8 once again.
Either way, a fun time in the industry!!!

mp3tunes.com have been doing this (much better) for many years. This is version 1.0 compared to their offerings, esp. their ability to play over Roku and Squeeze box.
I have been using this since day dot and have been very happy.
EMI are not however, and are suing them. That outcome would affect the Amazon product too, esp. as they are now breaching their music license agreement.

Lindows which later became Linspire has had this exact concept for since 2002 (called Click N Run) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNR_%28software%29
It was a excellent concept back then and these new variants just make it more sexy visually. I hope Linspire get some royalties out of that...
