If you look at page 12 of that PDF MSE ranks "Advanced" along with most others..

Have been using this Codec pack for years and never had it cause any problems.
And I for one love that he makes UAC a requirement. Keeps idiots from turning it off. SO WHAT if its 'alittle" annoying. If its off then your back to XP era security. And if you think thats fine then I hope you do get tons of viruses..

To my knowledge.. As long as you don't have the piece of crap called IE6 installed.. Trident isn't that bad.. It renders everything out there that 99% of the internet's users would want to use.. Just because it doesn't render HTML5 yet doesnt mean its behind it just means other engines are fast..

It obviously is not forced on anyone. So if your ISP can't handle it, then don't choose a device made for HD content, as the new Apple TV is.

They actually only got one of the patents they are using in the last few days.

I think there is a need for software patents to a certain extent, but I think patent hoarders like Eolas should not be allowed to exist(if what Ive heard is true where they collect patents that others outside the company has made.
My proposal would be that only the individual or company who had a hand in development of whatever is being patented should have the right to own the patent. If that can't happen then the patent should be forfeited. Obvious exceptions are if that particular company merges or gets bought out. If a company owns patents and that company goes out of business, no one should beable to buy those patents for themselves and profit from them because they don't deserve any money that they get from it or any money they receive from defending that patent in court.

Yes you can get the $50 upgrade if you have XP. You just won't beable to do a update from XP. You will have to install win7 on a clean drive(w/o putting your key in) and then once your finished. Do it all over again but upgrade from the Win 7 desktop and this time put your key in. This is the method of having a clean install with an upgrade. It was the same way with Vista.

Of course Acer had to include the crappy Z520.. No one wants to use the infintely better z530 in their netbook, its rare. If they use the z line at all. My opinion, if your going to use the z520 then why not just put the same old N270 or the new N280..
Anyway, dracodos.. Alot of people bag on Vista for netbooks but my netbook with a N270 Atom and 2GB ram can run Vista just fine. Now them using the 520 might make a difference, it being a slower processor and all.
