  1. Review - UltraEdit

    14.00b (May 18, 2008)

I'm using version 11. That's not perfect but at least it's zippy and has most features i need.

Beyond that version, it just gets crappier. Slower, more clunky and less stable.

And at that price? FORGET IT! They better wake up their idea. I'd pay at most $9 for this thing.

  2. Review - Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

    1.0 (Nov 28, 2006)

Why would anybody in the right mind download & install this thing???

Anyone who gives anything but the lowest rating is probably an MS staff and/or a mxrxn.

  3. Review - Maxthon Cloud for Windows

    1.5.6.39 (Jun 15, 2006)

ZenWarrior did an excellent write-up on Maxthon already. I fully agree that it is the best browser so far. FireFox comes second but not close.

    1. For those who know javascript, the Collector is extremely useful for debugging and manipulating web pages to suit your needs. Combine with Ajax and you have a very powerful surfing experience.

    2. It takes only about 10% - 25% of FireFox RAM consumption. This also makes it blazing fast.

    3. Its tab browsing feature itself is one of the best I've seen.

    4. It supports plug-ins too. I've been using a few very nifty ones.

    5. Of course it also detects RSS feeds automatically. But that's a given for any good browser nowadays.

    6. Tons of other features that you will discover along the way.

I hope Maxthon will someday replace IE permanently.

  4. Review - BS.Player

    1.40.830 (Mar 24, 2006)

I am really, really sad.... I used to love BSPlayer so much. I introduced it to my friends bcos it was so good.

But now, they just betrayed their loyal users by making it an adware. I mean, come on. Isn't there any other alternative?

And why choose "whenu"? That's one of the worst!

I really feel betrayed. This is just sad...... sigh.... :(

  5. Review - Miro for Windows

    0.8.1 Beta (Mar 8, 2006)

"Democracy Player lets you watch Internet videos like you watch TV."

Yeah, right! If by "watch TV" you mean having to download the shows that I "think I might be interested in" before I can watch them.

After excruciatingly long download time, if I don't like what I see, I have to go through the whole slow download process again to watch the next show.

  6. Comment - Apple secures a patent for a multitouch methodology

    0.8.1 Beta (Jan 28, 2009 - 6:38 AM)

I remember seeing a private demo video of the Microsoft Surface table (with multi-touch) at least 1 year before iPhone was announced for the first time.

But I guess Apple must have had strong reasons as to why theirs is unique.

  7. Comment - RealNetworks lets 130 go

    0.8.1 Beta (Dec 7, 2008 - 8:54 AM)

I hope RealNetworks close down. They are not that different from spyware companies.

  8. Comment - RealNetworks lets 130 go

    0.8.1 Beta (Dec 7, 2008 - 8:52 AM)

Many American companies practice that; not just RealNetworks.

  9. Comment - SP2 for Vista, WS2K8 to enter beta Wednesday, will support Blu-ray

    0.8.1 Beta (Oct 25, 2008 - 5:24 AM)

Nope. Vista is the most secure Windows yet. And this is coming from someone who prefers XP to Vista for many other reasons.

  10. Comment - First look at latest OpenOffice merits a second

    0.8.1 Beta (Oct 10, 2008 - 1:42 PM)

"PowerPoint was an implement of torture"
How so? I love PowerPoint 2007. What makes it merit the "implement of torture" title?

EDIT: Just tried the new Impress. It is at most a minor improvement over PowerPoint 2003.
    1. You can now draw tables (at last), but can't insert new row by pressing tab at the last cell.
    2. It is still a resource hogger. Much more than MS Office.
    3. It is still slower than MS Office.

Angela Gunn should try PowerPoint 2007 before calling it names.
