  1. Review - FuturixImager

    “Splash” Alpha 2 (Sep 3, 2009)

Anything of value to say, cltx99?
This is an alpha release with 80% of features missing, what did you expect!

  2. Review - Stellarium for Windows

    0.8.2 (Oct 5, 2006)

Simply *the best* computer planetarium software in the world!
I've tested 10 different platariums (including KStars and Celestia) and Stellarium is clearly the best - fastest, great looking, configurable.

    Well done!

  3. Review - eMule

    0.47c (Sep 14, 2006)

Niksa, no - it's only eDonkey2000 website (and company) shut down. The P2P network itself is independant and continues on it's own.

P.S. And BTW, eMule is pretty fast. Not as fast as torrents, but at least the selection of things is 100s of time larger (though comparing eMule and torrents is incorrect - while eMule has global P2P network, torrents belong to small local networks).

  4. Review - Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit)

    Pre-RC1 Build 5536 (Aug 29, 2006)

Very good build - fast and no bugs so far.
Seems that Vista will be a very solid release - and with HUGE number of new technologies that software developers :-)

There are several tools that can make same thing (and much more) for free (Resource Hacker for example).

  6. Comment - Microsoft at CES: Finally, what to expect from Windows Mobile 7 and Windows Phone

    5.00 (Jan 10, 2010 - 6:35 PM)

Apart from the UI standards and eye candy there is nothing outdated in Windows Mobile itself - in fact statements of that nature show that people writing about that are either trolls or know s*** about WindowsCE/Mobile.

The only 3 things Microsoft needs to do is:
    1. add requirement for phone manufacturers to include hardware graphics acceleration chip (like iPhone and the rest hi-end phones do)
    2. create decent API for that accelerated graphics
    3. enlarge remaining UI bits to be finger friendly (work already half-done in 6.1.4 and 6.5)
And guess what - they are doing all those for WinMo 7.

  7. Comment - Microsoft at CES: Finally, what to expect from Windows Mobile 7 and Windows Phone

    5.00 (Jan 10, 2010 - 6:29 PM)

Microsoft added multi-touch in Windows Mobile 6.5
Yes, after HTC added it to their apps in 6.1 - but that's not the point (in fact that's an evidence of flexibility of the system).

  8. Comment - Microsoft at CES: Finally, what to expect from Windows Mobile 7 and Windows Phone

    5.00 (Jan 10, 2010 - 6:28 PM)

"The issue with the platform, of course, is the huge pile of legacy devices and software versions which continued to affect its design up to Windows Mobile 6.5."

This is not an 'issue' - it is a sign of popularity. Microsoft has the same problem with WinMo as it had with XP - stable good platform, but outdated UI. So it made desktop Windows pretty with Vista/W7 and it will make WinMo 7 pretty too.

In all other aspects Windows Mobile is fine and it's core (WindowsCE) still kicks a** of most competition.

  9. Comment - Toshiba's $249 Blu-ray player vs. $299 PS3: The choice is obvious

    5.00 (Sep 3, 2009 - 7:31 PM)

Comparing a brand new product with discounted version of 3 year old one is a bit strange - Toshiba's player will be discounted too and will compare much better. Besides not everyone wants a console.
