5.5.0.113 (Aug 3, 2011)
Peter.S.Wilts, you clearly don't have a clue about how software is updated. The update notification within the Skype software have to rely on the version data being updated on Skype's servers. Sometimes this takes time. However, the website and other URLs ALWAYS point to the latest files, because as soon as they are updated on the servers, they are available.
5.5.0.13 isn't a beta, and you'd know this if you actually downloaded it. Next time, keep your incorrect assumptions to yourself.
As for Skype 5.5.0.13, it works and works well. I have this proper actual NON-BETA version running right now.

Excellent FTP app.
Aegis69, use your sense. You can turn off the update checking yourself in the settings! No one is forcing you to update every single time, just turn it off then you can update it at any interval you like.

ModderXManiac, you forgot to check out the date of those reviews, they are AT LEAST two years old!
The Betanews staff needs to check the system requirements, STILL. The developers of this software don't support anything other than XP (http://www.bearshare.com/help.html#3). You've been told more than 2 years ago (repeatedly), clearly you STILL need to actually mark the entry properly before you post it.
Bearshare is still rubbish. Marked accordingly.

DatabaseBen doesn't know what he is talking about.
Belarc Advisor DOESN'T leave memory-resident processes that consume resources.
Obviously by giving out the freeware version, Belarc hope to get people to buy the paid-for version (which has more features). Just like all the other publishers who do exactly the same thing.
Seeing as it is explicity stated that it is free for personal use, that makes it plain that it should not be installed on business PCs. It is the responsibility for businesses to lock down their own PCs so that this (and many other unauthorised) product cannot be installed. Just like how they should lock down their system to prevent unauthorised use of USB keys for example.
The application simply does what it says it's supposed to do. Nothing more, nothing less.
9.0.9.4d (Oct 30, 2008)
It's OK software, but there's little to differentiate this with 8 or even 7. Takes waaaaaay too long to install too. They really need to dump the code and start from scratch.
The other problem with this version is that apparently if you have the download or trial version of Nero 9, you need to run the Nero CleanTool to uninstall Nero 9, then use this update to install it clean. Ridiculous.
From Nero pages:
"Nero 9 customers who purchased a Downloadable Version (not Retail Box) or currently have Nero 9 Trial version, must follow the steps below to take advantage of the latest Nero 9 Update
Step 1: Run the Nero Clean Tool - this uninstalls your previous version of Nero 9 in preparation for the current Nero 9 update. Nero Clean Tool will also uninstall the following applications - Nero Move it, Nero BackItUp 4 and Nero MediaHome 4 - if installed on your computer. Please make sure to keep record of your current serial numbers for reinstallation of these applications.
Step 2: Download and Install the latest Nero 9 Product Update.
Step 3: Enter in your current Nero 9 serial number to complete installation process.
Step 4: If you own other Nero products (such as Nero BackItUp, Nero Move it, Nero Media Home) you will need to reinstall these products individually."

You haven't a clue what you're talking about, Nilst2006.

Yes, except wouldn't this be the exact same with the Mac though?

Are you for real? I've used Nokia phones and the last set of ones from the last three years were bug-ridden crashing messes. Nokia phones with Symbian are AWFUL. iOS and Android simply works.

And you've just shown how uneducated you really are. The corporate users are the MAJORITY! They're the ones that really bring in the money. If developers want to stay relevant, they HAVE to cater towards the corporate users. This is why Firefox has been stagnating for years and has let Chrome "steal" the number two browser position.

They already have. Microsoft made a comment a couple of days ago.
