  1. Review - PeaZip for Windows (32-bit)

    2.2 (Aug 12, 2008)

7-Zip has a terrible GUI, PeaZip actually I think did an excellent job on the GUI. It's all a matter of opinion in the end. A lot of "computer guys" prefer a techno or sharp look but I prefer a more soft and polished look.

  2. Review - System Explorer

    1.3.0.762 (Feb 29, 2008)

Definitely grab the 1.4 beta, it is organized better and has the one last feature I was missing from Task Manager - "switch to" (or "bring to front").
It's very stable too. Top notch software.

  3. Review - Process Explorer

    11.10 (Feb 27, 2008)

It's good, in fact great... but the BEST and the king of Task Manager replacements is SystemExplorer. It's free, portable (I run it on my U3 flash drive), light weight, and gives access to much more than Process Explorer.

Try it out and you won't think about Process Explorer again:

  4. Review - PCPal

    1.8.1270 Beta (Jan 26, 2008)

When running PC Checkup, AVG picked up this virus from this program: Trojan horse Clicker.KNL

It offered fixes that didn't apply to my system (KB929762 for example).

I do like the interface of the program, and in theory seems like a decent program for beginners. But it needs some serious work and eliminating of any (ahem!) trojans in there.

However for every other user, a combination of CCleaner and XdN Tweaker (or Glary Utilities, or whatever you prefer) would be much safer and more powerful than this.

  5. Review - Nero

    7.10.1.0 (Updated) (Jul 12, 2007)

Go for the Ultra Maximum Ultimate XTreme Enhanced version instead.
