The only other factor that you left out of the discussion is the similarity of names for the three devices. It may seem like a minor thing, but Apple was astute in it's marketing by using the name recognition of the ipod in naming the iphone and ipad.

Bigsexy's comment about android phones not selling on AT&T is correct. But, then again, why would anyone who wants an android phone get one from AT&T? If I'm going to get an android phone, I'll get one on Verizon as I did for my wife.

Simply by not selling new XP licenses, Microsoft will eventually convert every user over to 7. I purchased a new laptop. The manufacturer would not honor the warranty if I removed 7 and installed XP. They finally said that if I retained the original hard drive with 7 on it and installed an identical drive to theirs with XP, that I would not void the warranty. There are very few people who are going to do that. And yes, we own machines with 7. I actually prefer XP over 7.

I'm not an Apple user. I've never been able to afford it. But it doesn't take a genius to realize that if your operating system is proprietary and you control the hardware on which it runs in addition to not having to deal with "backwards compatability" issues, you're going to have a better, more stable product. The fact that Vista is offering features that Apple has had for some time is symptomatic of that. Having said that, the reason M$ has the market share they do and will continue to dominate the market is that Windows will operate on a variety of platforms and usually supports that old program (or two or three) that I can't dispense with or justify the cost for a replacement. The discussion of which platform is better is irrelevant. Of course, Mac is better. Am I going to buy one? No.
