Once upon a time, in the Windows 3.x days) this was the best FTP client that I could find. I have long since moved on and I use Core FTP now and I could not be happier. |

This is by far the best ftp client around. It has been there for ages, no other ftp client can touch this - well worth the price. |

Save your $55 for something more worthwhile. I stopped using this, beginning after version 5.x. It started behaving buggy for me in later versions. What I used to consider the best FTP client, is now the worst IMHO! |

Since version 5.x, WS_FTP Pro's reliability has long given way to its needless complexity (and ridiculous cost, even to upgrade each year). This is the worst of the "kitchen sink" approaches to software coding. Find an alternative. |

We had used WSFTP for several years where I work. But sadly, the last couple of years, they tried making the program look more beautiful & added features which we didn't need. We switched to FileZilla which is "open source", supports SSL\SSH encryption, and has a clean GUI with drag n' drop, which meets most of our needs. I found out about "FileZilla", here on Betanews by the way. Do a search for it. |

I see it's now up to a whopping $120. Interesting, seeing how there are a zillion free FTP clients that do everything this one does. Funny thing on their website. its says "40 million customers can't be wrong!". ummm...well apparently they can! And quite frankly I don't belive their are 40 million paying customers of this pile of junk either. |

WS_FTP Pro 2006 is evidence that the "kitchen sink" approach to software design is never a good idea. I like and have used it for years, but the 2005 version was consistently unstable, thus the quick release of this version. Although I recommend it for its maturity and polish, 98% of all users will never need this much in an FTP client. |

I prefer it over Filezilla because you can connect to multiple servers at the same time, which are organized in tabs (like Firefox). I also think that it looks nicer. |

The LE version was a long standing favourite among many users. The PRO version on the other hand is a waste of money. Try FileZilla instead - open source. |

Thanks for the updated .jpg RX! Some might wonder why they'd pay $55 for an FTP client, but WS_FTP Pro is so customizable, so powerful, and so dependable that it's worth every nickel. Also, IPSwitch does not upgrade it too often, which means their version builds are highly reliable. I strongly recommend this program for anyone with a website or blog to publish. |

Hmm. Is this Beta? It seems that I have to reinstall all of my previous preferences and websites by hand for some strange reason. Way too much work. Maybe forgot to include an import utility or something. I went back to a previous version. SmartFTP didn't have the ability to 'see' the ini files where all my sites are located in folders from WS, so that's sort of out as an option for me. I just don't really want to take a lot of time re-entering users/passwords. My 2centavos |

It's funny. Has everyone forgot about Window Blinds. The leader in Customization. Not to mention more options (like setting every program to a unique skin). I only bring this up, because the above program is good....for free. If you are going to spend 20 dollars get Window Blinds. It been around longer, it offers more, and they helped Microsoft right the code. |

This program does it job very well always has.. great little program.. needs a few things.. 1 needs to be able to support batch downloads/uploads.. maybe a new look. other than that.. he program is a great tool keep up the good work boys. |

I never liked the interface of WS_FTP. That's why when I first tried CuteFTP I was "hooked" and never looked back. Now with CuteFTP Pro, it just leaves WS_FTP in the dust. |

This program is not freeware. It is 39.95 to download a registered copy. I have tried them all and there is a great freeware ftp program. It is SMARTFTP and it is really fast. WSFTP, no matter how much I try to like it, I find it clunky and slow... |

I don't like this new version because its included many features I don't need and also it has disabled some of the featured I liked in the previous version. The setup doesn't allow you to choose which utilities to install whereas the old version does. I could not disable the splash screen in with this version nor I can rename a file with extension to no extension (default.asp => default). I am going to stick with the old version (6.7) |

Why is it that so many that stick in reviews do nothing more than criticise? O.K. this program may not be the prettiest program available but there is no denying that it is simple to use and does the job effectively. I have used this and earlier versions for years now and have never encountered a problem. Ignore the criticisms, this program will do the job for you and you do not need a University Degree or a ten thousand page manual to use it!! |

I honestly have no idea why they haven't yet given this program an overhaul yet. The interface is the clunkiest and most awkward of any windows FTP program I can remember (and I've used just about all of them), it doesn't have an option to keep your FTP session alive and then doesn't tell you when it's disconnected. Oh, and the cancel button is next to useless since it never works. I tried the windows integration for a bit and that was just as mostly useless and annoying as the full program. The only reason I keep using it is that it allows me to upload entire directories to my server and it will only overwrite older files with newer ones rather than overwriting everything. If anyone knows of another FTP program that lets you do this, please let me know. It can't possibly be worse than this dinosaur. The fact that it's apparently the oldest FTP clients (for WINDOWS at least, which they stupidly fail to mention) still shows despite numerous new versions that have repeatedly fixed sod all. |

I am a fan of WS_FTP and have been using it since I was introduced to the Internet back in late '97 It has been for me the most robust client for what I have to do (which includes linux cd downloads and web site building) with it's default resume function and simple interface its the client I have been going back to after trying MANY other failed clients but version 7 doesnt allow me to import 6.x sites :( many of which I cant remember the passwords of, that means I have to re-create them, all for a newer interface (the only improvements being DIS-intergration of explorer.exe, I only use classic anyway) I hope that when it releases we will be able to import all of the custom ini files that the new client doesnt seem to use anymore. PS: In spite of all the CD's of Linux releases I downloaded I'm still using Windows and still dont understand Linux.. |

Having Pegasus as main client and mail storage (the mail storage is over 100M), Kaufman Mail Warrior is the excellent companion. Run it as default client, easy as a breeze to operate - and now even with spellchecker. Preview and handling of mail directly from the popserver is not only a feature - it's a working feature. Get up a mail you need to answer directly from all waiting - without having to bring up Pegasus, and get rid of spam and other mail without even having to bring them up in the inbox. Flexible incoming as outgoing rules/filters - in short make it difficult to work as a reviewer. What are you going to give someone who "have it all" for Christmas, what are you going to say about a mail client who "have it all". Only part I can find I have said before: if the program only had more original toolbar buttons! A real mail warrior should have toolbar buttons in form of warrior pigeons, that's very important he said... And yes, another point to the author of the program - have you ever consider the responsibility you have and the consequenses of what you do. What should all those making sharware email clients do when a freeware flying horse and a equal priced warrier pigeon take over the market? Think about that a moment when making new versions unbloated and better all the time. Want monopoly in email heaven, eh? |
