I use to use this 5 years ago and it was great back then and its GREAT now. It really has a lot of great functionality, its inexpensive and easy to use. I am glad they are still around and developing this it does a great job with very little OVERHEAD.

Best ftpd for windows. Has built-in sfv checking, supports vfs, mode z and a ton more.

Version 2.4 build 3680
added: a new special group name 'isaserver', users in this group enable special server behavior to be compatible with microsoft isa server 2006
fixed: using filezilla to upload to server with multiple connections may cause server to crash if .raidenftpd.acl is enabled

This is a good little FTP-Server, I've used it for the past couple years and it has all of the features you'd expect. Sadly, they are moving to an "Annual Pricing" structure in which you have to pay every year. No thank you!

I'll stick with BPFTP Server, I've used it for years and it's awesome. It's listed here on BetaNews.

bugmenot: Name me one standard Raiden does not support?

This is the best FTPd server for windows. It has built-in stats script, sfv checker and TON more features that one does NOT need to install! Amazing server!

And lastly, those who say its crap did not try it.

I use this server heavily. It has all the functionality you could want from config to file access. I have used many other servers, from IIS to various third party apps. None compare to the reliability and availability of Raiden, bar none.

Forget the review below (May 07) ...probably running it on a WinMe box ;P

Worst ftp daemon ever. While this might be ok for home use, if you need professional level FTP services, look elsewhere (proftpd, g6, etc). This one is not user friendly at all, has a problem with servers running 30+ users (memory, disk usage, etc) and is not supportive of some of the latest ftp standards.

1. FailedCRC. I wonder where?
2. People with BRAINs don't judge a program from its UI.

Raiden has TONS of potential if you look BEHIND the gui. Best ftpd for win boxes.

I have used Raiden since it's beta versions. I was blown away by its versatility then and still am today.

And to 'Metshrine', I can only remember ONCE where i had to re-validate my key and I do believe that was when v2 came out. Nothing wrong with increasing the protection of your product. Maybe you should purchase it instead of hacking it.

After using Raiden before and saw it potential i must again (first time here) verify that Raiden is one if not the only FTPd for win32 that got the most versatility around!
It can use any programming language as long as you got an interpreter, if you want php support then just dload php for win32 and your raiden got support for that, all this goes for all the other programming languages out there!

If that is not versatile ? then wat's not?
Areas of usage is unlimited, altho i must say one bad thing about Raiden, it is not just point and click to add these awesome scripting abilities to raiden, you really got to read the readme's and configure most scripts yourself without GUI.
I dont see it as a problem because if all the script contributors added GUI's for their scripts and Raiden team added some GUI for those scripts i.e script handle, you would have an entire ocean of buttons and settings to fiddle with. More than anyother FTPd, cept some linux based ones.

Summary:
Most versatile FTPd for win32.
What it lacks in GUI it makes up for script support and functionality and a wide area usage!

Poor UI, poor registration system which is updated almost every build to get rid of the newest crack that has been put out (thus forcing registered users to re-validate keys). G6 Ftp server blows this out of the water.

As I stated below, this is a nice ftp server, but the interface and functionality lacks that of its competitors (servu, g6 3.0, proftpd for linux, etc). This is not a professional grade server, for the home user its fine if you cant afford a more professional server, but it is far from the best out there.

RaidenFTPd has an impressive feature set that no ftp server has been able to match. The support for UPnP alone makes it an amazing product for those with routers. It has an unprofessional interface and I must decline to give it the full rating it deserves.

Well, I must disagree with you. To begin with, if you are only concerned with the so-called 'warez' and it is the only thing you can think of... well... it is your personal problem, isn't it? Secondly, if you would like to start a debate about the way certain software is used, you can say, for instance, that any ftp server can be used to serve 'warez' and every ftp client to get/ download it; that windows can be used as an environment to crack/ reverse programs, and so on and so forth. So would you please stop that kind of talk here? Plus, its ability to report stats to IRC and the support for IRC in general is TOTALLY wrong. Why? Because this irc-thing is an EXTERNAL ADD-ON aka script for it. It was written by outsiders and the authors of RaidenFTPD do not and can not be responsible for the way it is used, and they do not support such addons. Plus, just so you know, gene6, let's say has such 'warez' (although I disagree on this one) add-ons as well. Did not you know this?

To move on, I must say that RaidenFTPD is way more advanced in terms of its features and support for the latest protocols than most of ftp servers out there. For instance, it was among the first ones to support MODE Z and it continues introducing new innovative features, like, for example 'remoteadmin' client that is being build into Raiden. In addition, in terms of its price it is one of the most fair-priced products out there. Plus, they have student license as well.

Next thing is its ability to handle a corporate portal let's say. Well... I have been working with Raiden for quite some time and I am totally sure that it can easily handle any portal of any size. It has all the functions and flexibility to do so. Plus, again, great tech support makes it even easier.

Foreseeing your question, I do not work for Raiden team and I am in no way affiliated with its developers. I am simply one of their official clients that love their 'child' very much AND I really disagree with the kind of review and rating you gave to Raiden.

Anyways, I've pleaded my case. If anyone interested in my humble opinion, RaidenFTPD is THE ftp server for any user that can satisfy ANY need. It worth all the money in the world, trust me on this.

Regards,

Diam0nd.

Good if you want something for serving warez (why else would it have IRC support, no corporations use irc to report stats of their ftp server to an irc network/channel), but not worthy of being a corporate ftp server (hence why you never see any corporations running it). The interface is lacking, and while they boast 100mbits+ throughput, what half decent ftp server cant do that? Gene6 ftp server 3 on the other hand is a great server, active directory integrated, domain based privelleges, NTLM authentication, need I go on?

What can I say? 5 stars... THE BEST FTP serving proggy EVER! 1. Keep improving (YES, updates almost everyday and I simply LOVE IT!) 2. Stable 3. FAST AS HELL 4. unbelivably FLEXBIBLE 5. Supports IRC, eggdrop, sql, php, EVERYTHING you ever need 6. has nice scripts 7,8,9,10.........ffffffff

PEOPLE, try it, then BUY it, i did: http://www.raidenftpd.com/en/

It worth ALL the money! Trust me on this :)

P.S. And NO I dont work 4 them, just LOVE Raiden SO much!!! :)

2 "Black-Wolf" use serv-u? Did they drop u when u were a kid? Serv-u is WEAK as hell comparing to Raiden, because Riden is PRO tool, unlike serv-u. Man, Im sorry, but you are LAME and DUMB because you post such comments withyout knowing what are you talking about. man... pitiful...

Have been using RaidenFTPd for 5 years now. It just keeps getting better and better! It has a steep learning curve, but once that is conquered, this server will blow Bulletproof, Serv-U, War, and ALL THE REST away! User configuration confusing? Maybe for you point and click fanatics. Featureless? Not a chance! If I could give it 10 stars, I would to offset these wanna-be ftp server admins!

Featureless, bad support, and the worst GUI ever made.
Use BulletProof or Serv U or WarFTPd.

I like that there are regular builds. Sometimes there may be a critical update that requires an upgrade and also other fixes that also require upgrade. Software needs to be tested and if bugs can be found, and new code tweaked because of user feedback, thats great!

First of all, why is there an updated version every day? I'm all for developers working to make their programs better but I think he might be better off working for a week or so then releasing an update.

Also, updates are listed on the main page, but if you try to update through the program, it tells you that no update is needed.

Besides that, it's a decent daemon.

Sorry, but the configuration for a USER is very very confused: I can not assigning different directories to a user from different HDD. After 10 min works with RaidenFTPD! I have given up, this tool is too confused and complicated.
BulletFTP is better around something.

Excuse me but, isn't SmartFTP a client program? RaidenFTPD is a server program.
RaidenFTPD was the fastest of all server programs that I've tried (Serv-U, Bulletproof, Guild, Titan, WFTPD and some others)
My only problem with Raiden was to create users with different directories and rights, and I therefor had to use my second choice: Serv-U.

The best ftp daemon available for windows. There is a slight learning curve, but your patience will be rewarded with experience using a very customizable and feature packed daemon. It has great user/script support such as zipscripts and sitebots. It's greatest strength is in the support that is provided via the website forums and the constant new builds that are freely available. The developer actually takes the time to talk to and respond to customer enquiries/complaints and works to implement them. I leave the best till last, as this program is only $US12.95 for unlimited lifetime support and updates, and only US$19.95 for SSL version. That is unbelievable! If you are planning on running an ftp server in windows, your only choice is RaidenFTPD.

I think every, why do you make so often a "build"-updates ??

This is an excellent server. I love it... although I prefer to have my Linux box as the FTP server ;)

@ LVirus -- A 100Mbps network is only capable of about 12MB/s. That's because Mbps = "mega BITS per second" and not mega BYTES per second. There are 8 bits in a byte. When you do the math, it works out...

Well, with my BPFTP I can get 12.000 megs output in 100mbps network .. Dunno why you cannot do it?

This program is definetly the best Peer to Peer program that i've played with so far. Its still in beta, however the features are exactly what i'm looking for. And is being updated so fast.. damn.

I personally have never had it crash or screw up, something i have not found from Direct Connect. The client and server are both stable for me, and are user friendly, and armed with a plethora of goodies.

It has similarities to Neo-Modus Direct Connect, however where that program fell short, this one excels. Not only in the lack of banners, spyware or anything else, but also the extensive options.

I'ld definetly strike this as the best Peer to Peer file sharing program, regardless that its still beta. Its where its at today, folks.(excuse the repetition)

your review about transfer speeds is an exaggeration. I've done these tests before with different ftp servers and they all tend to be within a few 100 kb of each other. 4000kb/s for raiden to 700kb/s for everyone else is technically impossible son

The most customizable and also the fast FTP server for Windows by far. I tried doing some speed tests by transferring files locally (copying files on the HD). RaidenFTPD went over 4mb/sec consistently (probably maxing out my HD speed). Serv-U, BPFTPD and several other Windows FPTDs I tested refused to go above 700k/sec. I'm running Windows 2000 by the way. Check out http://www.raidenftpd.com/en/plugin.html for the great scripts/plugins.

RaidenFTPD will probably remain the best windows daemon, that is unless glftpd is ever ported.
