I'm using it since 2002. Bought once, you get all updates for free. Many options, some are really useful.
Since nowadays there are powerful freeware downloadmanager like FlashGet (formerly Shareware), I would not buy it again in 2007.

Im still using version 4.3 pro on Vista Ultimate through Firefox. Works like a charm! I tried a 5.1 pro version and didnt like how it "dumbed" things down. All the the "new features" listed for version 5.1 are currently already available in 4.3 (except for the improved IE7 integration).

I am rating the product a "5" because there is no option to rate version comparisons... which I would only give this version a "3"

Very good download manager. Not quite as good as GetRight, but getting there..

The 2 year dry spell in development between 4.2 and 5.0 did not help.

Hopefully Reget will continue to be improved upon..

@trevithick
You've got response from reget authors? That's a miracle!
I have a RegetDX license since its very first days and never got a helpfull response from its authors. Even when they replied to my mails and newsgroup posts, they were unprofessional and rude.

I rate this program with 1, because there is no 0 (or less).

Despite the occasional bug, this downloader is fast, efficient, and uses little resources.

For those who complain about lack of support, I've always received and knowledgable response when writing to the support team.

The infrequency of upgrades gets it a 4 out of 5.

light, useful, always working, has a few bugs, but not like the other managers dont, simply the best althou as some people has sated their customer support could be better, and for people complaining that it isnt free, u can use it in trial mode undefinately

Well,it does the normal downloading stuff very well, but doesn't deserve the money it wants tio be registered, when u compare this with like's of ida,idm.....
thankfully the development is alive enought to fix bugs once a year...
Nothing special,if ur bored with ida/idm and wanna try something else go for this one..

I've been using this program for years.
It's the fastest and the best one out there.
It works great for copying files on LAN.
I've even used it once to copy a file on my computer from a drive to another drive by sharing a folder on the network and downloading it to my computer from my computer..
I give it a 5

After a lot of searching for a good download manager, I finally tried ReGet Deluxe 4.2 (build 263). This is by far the best download manager I've tried - and I've tried a lot of them. All downloads go through a common download interface page. ReGet is very effective at figuring out what to download from redirected links. Most download managers get hopelessly confused. This one works.

There are so many options and settings that some people might not put in the learning time to use the program to it's full potential. It is possible to set up the program to handle about any preferences, but it may take a little while to figure out how to do it.

It's a power program for capable power users.

RegetDX isn't a bad or slow download manager. In fact it works reliable and has no more issues than others.

Then you have to ask me, why I rate it with 1?
Simply because their customer support sucks. Since first registered RegetDX, I've reported more than ten bug reports plus a few suggestions. Do you know how many of them were fixed? NONE!

IMHO, the reason this program is still alive is simple, author wants to fish new clients and get some bucks.

My suggestion to mr Michael Bakhtin, (RegetDX author or co-author)... Support or drop it!

As Inray said it might be a fairly good product but their support is bad. I bought a couple of licenses years ago and they never fixed an issue I reported. The program has real bad problems with keeping the set limits in P4 computers and they won't care to fix it. Look for another download manager, this is not worth the money.

It's the best downloader going! I have it integrated into FF and IE both. I use it sometimes for capturing streaming media. Hasn't failed me yet.

As for o4r's BHO disinformation, um, BHO is a technology, just like C++ or Java. A BHO is NOT spyware. Kindly review things you know about, and then review the app.

o4r Mar 9, 2005 4.1.244

Same as Flashget, they used Browser Helper Object : (BHO). A component that Internet Explorer will load whenever it starts, shares IE's memory context, can perform any action on the available windows and modules. A BHO can detect events, create windows to display additional information on a viewed page, monitor messages and actions. Microsoft calls it "a spy we send to infiltrate the browser's land." BHOs are not stopped by personal firewalls, because they are seen by the firewall as your browser itself. Some exploits of this technology search all pages you view in IE and replace banner advertisements with other ads. Some monitor and report on your actions. Some change your home page.

In Short they are spyware

I really like Reget Deluxe, in fact i've got it registered, years now, and it used to be my primary d/l manager all the time.
Unfortunately, people behind RGdx looks getting lazy last months. No bug fixes although reported and unknowleged during beta testing, not even correction of missing chapters in help files, no answer to supports requests, no nothing.
So i have to switch to a second d/l manager, although i still like Reget as a program.

I rate it with 3, ONLY because of Reget support people, who continue to ignore their own customers.

This program works very well. It does what it says, and it does it good.

If you are using Firefox (like me), get the extension "DownloadWith", available at mozilla.org. It will give you an option to download with a manager instead of the built in variant. You can even have multiple managers.

Giving a program a 2* rating, because you prefer something that is free is not really a valid reason. Reget is a damn fine program, and considerably better than all the free download managers (I tried them all, and most were lame, and a couple were OK).

PS. ReGet does not make Coffee. In fact it does nothing more than download programs, it just does it very well with lots of nice extras, like the web interface, which allows you to add downloaded whilst at work (for example).

Reget is fantastic for its low level integration with IE, which makes it to catch also downloads coming from complex redirections. I hope that the future versions of Reget support also the multi-source download (like FlashGet).

The best download manager available. Sure it costs a few pounds, but it is worth every penny. Beats all the freeware download managers like GoZilla and Leechget hands down. It's has a very intuitive interface, that hides some very powerfull features (check out the scheduling and macros).

At the moment, it's only weakness is multiple server support (ala Getright), but i'm sure this is in the works. Once this is done, nothing will touch it for power and ease of use.

On my XP system, this download manager is VERY reilable.

ReGet is not bad at all, but why would we spend some money when we can have it for free. Try 'LeechGet', this download manager is an identical ReGet/FlashGet clone, and the best thing about it, is that it's free, plus: the interface is much more cool ;)

Hay again,
ReGet Deluxe still awesome DL Manager...I have no problem @All with this software...1 thing concerning FTP-Explorer: Some of the downloads reside in authenticated servers.ReGet does't provide server login.Although we can embed the user name and password into the URL, but everytime when i want to download, i need to manually include it in.
ReGet should provide server manager to allow default login profile, and whenever I download from this server, login is automatic. If fact, most of the download manager does that!!
its nice to see.....thanx..great job.

i still use ReGet v1.3.1 from 1998. Its small, non-bloated and gets the job done fine. All the later releases of this and other download managers seem to have bloat in mind. This old version is under 90kb in size, compare that to the new ones. Sure the old one doesnt have graphing and scheduling, but I dont need that stuff, just a plain simple downloader which gets the job done. I'll stick with the old stuff.

It looks good. It's easy to use. It works fine ... until it crashes. Then I think of the fact that I would use this kind of program to avoid worries, not to add some. And because this build is no "beta", I find myself quite intolerant to crashes.
