Likes: Tool bars and icons, conventional menus, Win7 theme compatibility, decent popup filtering, spell check (but see dislikes) Dislikes: When opening a new group, it doesn't automatically close the current group (like FF and Maxthon do), nags you about Roboform, Most sites appear with very large fonts (Fileforum for 1) and I have to reduce the font size every visit. No search aliases (search bar is totally lame), Some menus are terribly long, and things are hard to find. Spell check requires a downloaded plugin, no inline spell check, no context spell check (you have to go to the top tool bar to activate it). I'm being charitable giving it 2 stars. Don't waste your time. |

This is a rally nice browser and it is not so full of junk to slow it down like other browsers. Works well, have had absolutely no problems with it at all. It is fast and has allot of what anyone needs. I often wonder with some of these browsers that brag about this and that, just how much is too much and how many plugins do you actually need and use to make it what you want. I suspect no matter what any browser maker does, some would not be pleased anyway. Anyway, this is a very nice alternative and works well. Take some getting use too, but then, with anything it does. |

Very nice browser. I have been using it for a few days now with no issues and has most everything anyone actually needs. Has not crashed yet like firefox does on me or freeze up like firefox does, but I like firefox also, so will continue to that too. But slimbrowser is very good and I intend on keeping it,fast, not sluggish at all, and not bloated like some. |

I've been using this for about a week and so far am very impressed. This is going to replace Maxthon and Avant for me. Not as feature rich as those two but doesn't crash on me like Maxthon or Avant constantly do. I use K-Meleon CCF primarily but for sites that require IE Slimbrowser is the answer. You can disable Java,Javascript,Flash,cookies and ActiveX on-the-fly, a feature I find indispensible when visiting suspect websites. ActiveX is a favorite method of malware spreaders for drive-by installs. |

It's because of the excellence of this program that I don't use Firefox. It's extremely fast and very customizible. I'd recommend this to anyone who uses IE 7 as their default browser. |

I wouldn't use IE/Trident engine at all if this program was not available. It has built-in ad blocking, but I'm hoping SB will ad a subscription option to EASYLIST [adblocker] to really enhance this browser. Mouse gestures; is not as important to me as others. I love this front-end. The aliases and the autologin features are the most valuable to me. |

Can't recommend it. A plus is the fact that it works with WebEx Meetings (Avant, Maxthon do not). However, the dealbreaker is the missing mouse gestures. If I can't draw an "L" on the screen while holding down the right mousebutton and expect the current window/tab to close, I can't use the program - period. If you don't rely on mouse gestures, though, this might be the shell for you. For me, though, it's back to Greenbrowser. Oh, and to the guy flagellating himself madly about Firefox - try searching your HD for a file called urlclassifier3.sqlite and see if FF has dropped a 50Mb+ piece of crap on your system like it has for most other people.. |

This version worked fine on my retro Win98SE system, but the reason why I am not rating it higher than a 3 is due to the shell not working properly with my Password Agent password manager. When I tried to Autofill the username/password, it would automatically open either the Favorites menu or Help menu, which is very strange behavior! Other than that, it's really not that bad of an IE substitute. Certainly has MUCH more merit than Maxthon, which so many people love on this forum, but I'm not one of them! Maxthon is buggy and does not deserve the high marks that it receives. |

I actually use Slim Browser fairly regularly, but it still needs a bit of work, for instance: not able to set default search engine, not able to use Google Toolbar.... It does have some almost-compensating features not found in other browsers though...for one, how Favorites display on multiple-screen setups... |

SlimBrowser is the only IE based engine, that let IE7 looks like IE6. I don't like vista, and i don't like the outfit of IE7. So my choice: Stick with SlimBrowser & skin the damn IE7 back to IE6, where you find everything. So ... i am a FireFox user, but i also take Opera, and SlimBrowser (IE). Mostly, i prefer FireFox, but form time to time, i use Opera. Since the IE is the only browser, that shows tags correctly, sometimes i also use IE. Yes, viruses through IE isn't often. But more infects through IE, as through FF and Opera. Most time, you get Spy & Adware, if you surf with IE. Don't be foolish, that's the truth. Since i use FF, Adaware finds nothing, my AV is tired & hangs around. Also my firewall is bored. So, choice is up to you: FF, Opera, IE? My browser is known as FF. Maybe yours is Opera or IE. It doesn't matter. The fact is: Everybody should use the browser, that fits to him/her. |

I have been using SlimBrowser for several years now. Tried all the others at one time or another and still prefer this one. Great filtering and pop-up blocking, tabbed interface, one of the fastest, has all the options I want or need and is certainly the best looking skinable browser available. If you like IE, this is a shell you should definitely try. |

OK browser. Avant and Maxthon are better. IE7 to me is way better, but not skinnable. Don Juan, PLEASE! PLEASE! Shut UP!!! IE7 is very secure and stable. IE is equal and pretty much getting better than Firefox and others. So, all the IE haters still upset about IE6, please put a cork in it. |

I would say its a nice IE based engine. I do agree with the others regarding some goods and some bads. The bads seems to be something that almost everyone pointed out already. and talking about rating, people rate a product for what it is and not something like giving it a 2 star saying " It used IE engine and so you get viruses" . That definite stupid of anyone. I for one use both IE and Firefox and have never got any virus because of IE. You have to be really dumb and ignorant about how computers work to get virus from IE. |

Slim is a very nice IE shell. But, there is 1 simple feature that doesn't work so well. When opening a new group, the old group will not (optionally) close! With this simple change, Slim would be right over Maxthon and Opera in features and convenience. -1 point off for this missing feature, -1 point off for the author mistake for a such a long time. But at the same time it gets +1 for the HTML editor that is in color. Slim is one of its kind to have that in color and at the same time work almoust licke Maxthon and Opera. |

I was pleasantly surprised after downloading and installing Slim Browser. For those intelligent enough to realize that the choice of a browser from the many available (inc. FireFox) is merely choosing one's poison, this browser ranks right up there at the top and above most others. Primarily being a Maxthon user (and occasionally FireFox or Opera), I find myself truly torn between Slim Browser or Maxthon being my default browser. Each has great features--with something "neat" included or omitted in each. In fact, Maxthon and Slim Browser working together could very easily create the browser Microsoft will likely never get right with IE7. Slim Browser is almost infinitely configurable. In fact, it's almost too configurable! There are many options the casual user might not understand. However, it works well right out-of-the-box for those who do not care to tinker. Skins? I've yet to understand the big deal about them. (They're always the first thing I remove.) They add nothing to functionality. MySearch? One or two clicks and it's gone. Closing old groups? Again, option or not, it's hardly a big deal. In fact, none of these are reasons to knock a product that works--and without first needing numerous poorly written or out-of-date plug-ins. (But, plug-ins are available for additional features possibly desired by some.) It passes every security test I've thrown at it. (I've seen FireFox fail and allow my system to be compromised. In fact, the only security breech I've ever had came while using FireFox!) All that said, I trust this well-done I.E. shell no less than I do any other browser, including Opera and FireFox. Maxthon vs. Slim Browser--it's a tough choice, unless you're blind to what simply works very well or are a mindless zealot for any particular piece of software (inc. browsers). One caveat that favors Maxthon is Slim Browser's use of resources. Its resource use is on par with FF and Opera. On the other hand, BloodChen does amazing things with Maxthon using only a quarter of the resources needed by either Slim Browser, FF, or Maxthon. |

If you like Internet Explorer but find it lacking, Slim is the one to have. Slim has it all and does it well. Tabbed browsing, auto logins, popup stopper, translation, email access, clean trace, etc. Avant and Maxthon are ok. Avant is getting very bloated and has an inherit instability fault on some machines since its inception. You can specify what search engine you want to use in Slim. You do not have to use Mysearch. Google and several others are available. The best advice I can give is to try them all and settle on the one which works best for you. Remember to take some time exploring all Slim has to offer. |

its a nice browser. But seen one front end, seem em all. This one offers nothing new or different over Maxthon and all the other big names. The only thing that Slim Browser does offer, that wont please many, is that it comes with MySearch toolbar. its not that dirty install that everyone is familiar with, one that is a b**** to remove. Its installed as an XML toolbar only for use with Slim Browser. Microsoft Antispyware found nothing. I would give this a 4 since all IE front ends are decent. But I give it a 3 since it comes with MySearch Toolbar. |

Everytime I go to the Fileforum page I get an error saying IE can't open this page. If I click the back button the page opens. What gives? So far it is the only page doing this. I love this browser but this is very annoying. When this is resolved the rating will go back to 5. I should mention that IE opens the page fine. |

I've tried all the browsers and the only one I keep and use is Slimbrowser. It has the best popup stopper and other ad blocking tools such as universal url filter, active x filter, and site filter. I love the autologin feature for webmail and forums. Clean trace works a charm. This browser is so configurable. There is'nt much you cannot do with it and there are plugins galore. Slim really makes surfing fun. |

I love SB's tabbed windows (so much easier to use than Moz's, which are at the bottom) Sometimes , clicking an action button on a site does not work, but am not sure if that is a SB issue or an I.E. one. My fave, after Opera, for everyday browsing. |

SlimBrowser is OK, but it has some really annoying bugs and limitations. Even though I have "Open new window in background" selected, new windows open in the foreground. You can't configure how wide the tabs should be, so even if you have only two pages loaded, you'll have to put up with text that is cut off for no reason. You also can't change the tab colors, which is annoying if you like to darken the background tabs for contrast (as I do). The search bar is pretty nice, though I wish it had a "find" button, in addition to "highlight" (as Avant Browser does). There is a "Links" bar, but no "Favorites" bar, which I find really stupid. There is no "Add URL here..." option in the Links toolbar. And on and on... SlimBrowser isn't terrible, but it isn't great, either. I'm finding out that ALL the MSIE wrappers suck in their own ways. |

Excellent replacement for IE6... Seems to have all the features of IE6, plus a lot more. Also seems to be less problematic than AvantBrowser, which caused lockup problems on 2 PCs I ran it on. I especially like the tabbed interface and the group auto-load feature...saves me a lot of time. |

SlimBrowser is a good effort, but it does not support JavaScript. I also tried to enable ActiveX controls and it did not work, even when I exited then started the browser and revisited the site. I would like to see an e-mail client incorporated into this browser, which could become a viable alternative to even Opera. |

I agree that this is an excellent prog. Have only been using it for a week, but I am impressed. The poppup stopper is the best, the search toolbar works great and of course, the tabbed interface. Nothing but good to say. |

It's fast, it's good-looking, it's free!!! Only 1 little remark: opening the 'Favorites' item can take a few seconds if you have a lot of bookmarks. But you can also use the 'yllow star' to access them and that's fast enough! |

I have not actually used this program, but the idea of tabs is a GREAT idea that IE does not imploy, yet the new version of Netscape does...check it out, saves tons of space |
