Nice program.
6 gigs of RAM says Prat Zero? Prat Zero is just a joke around here, well he would be if he wasn't so pathetic.

VERY FUN. No Install. I like that.
Phones home (sourceforge.net) when you start it to do a new version check. Turn that off under the Edit, Edit Settings... then Save Settings as default. Seems odd to have to do the extra step to save settings.
Loaded a 587KB jpg image, played around with all the sliders, changed to a TrueType font, played around some more, saved image as a .jpg file. Peak memory usage of the Ascgen dotNET.exe was 72MB. Loaded a 3.3MB image, did all the above, peak mem usage was ~104MB. Not a problem.
This is the most fun I've had with an app other than a game for a long time. Just get it and play around. It seemed to work best for me on face pictures.
Kudos to the author for a great app.
I use Sysinternals TCPView to see if things are phoning home. Free from MSFT and very easy to use.

pola,
blame your computer that cannot start .net, not the program that uses it. You definitely should buy some RAM, 512Mb is way too small...

Wow, works incredibly well, and very fast on all my systems; aside from start up which plagues all .NET apps.

Awesome! I wish I'd written it. It does what it does brilliantly. It's also very fast and very small.
Do I need what it does? No, not in any way, but it's great to know it's there!

Although I purchased a program a while ago called Magic ASCII Studio for this very purpose, I have to say I'm amazed at its simplicity once .NET framework 2.0 or higher was installed. The results are as good if not better than some programs out there and for FREE you cant fault this application at all. Need Image to ASCII simple and free ? then grab this app while you can, hats off to its creators

Cool stuff. I've always wondered how the heck people did these things. Since this is the first software of it's kind which ever has been publically announced on any websites i and most other people around here probably has been around, what does it matter if there are better alternatives? This is the "first" one to most of us, evidentally, and therefor it's likely it's gonna be much more widely used.
