Publisher's Description

Audiograbber grabs digital audio from CDs. It copies the audio digitally - not through the soundcard - which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. It can even perform a test to see that the copies really are perfect. It can also automatically normalize the music, delete silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to a variety or external MP3 encoders, such as Fraunhofers L3enc, or even use some MP3/WMA encoders internally for automatic creation of MP3s. It can download and upload disc info from freedb, an Internet compact disc database. You can even record your vinyl LPs or cassette tapes and make WAV files or MP3s of them.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! I was trying to rip a very rare album off CD using itunes, and about half way through it just completely stopped! I managed to get it two more tracks at about 2x speed, then the final two tracks no matter what I did it would not rip the last two. It always got stuck and would not even play the tracks. I tried to clean it with a microfiber cloth but it just got scratched and got worse.

Then I got Audiograbber- 21x constant speed into WAV files and the quality is perfect! It only paused once saying error presumably cause of the scratches, but it went right back and did it correctly at 21x. I don't know how the creators did this but it is amazing!

A sweet little program , it does everything I need it to do with a very small install size. Get this and a copy of LAME and you can rip your CDs with ease.

Highly recommended.

4 years since its last release, I still come back to Audiograbber. At least the Lame encoder is still being updated. The dynamic sync works nicely with my old banged up scratched CDs. Everything works fine in Vista, even SP1.

The only time I don't use Audiograbber is when the CDDB can't find the album info and the Media Guide in WMP can. Which unfortunately seems to be the case with *many* new albums. Of course, that's not Audiograbber's fault.

For me, this audio ripper is perfect! I mainly use LAME for encoding my MP3-files, but LAME is not included in the program. On the author's site you can find a link to where you can download the latest version of LAME for use in the program. Audiograbber is fast and I've never experienced any problems with it. Full score.

The PC audionoids use ExactAudioCopy which is ofcourse a superb freeware program, but Audiograbber excels at providing a more friendly interface for the newstart along with some powerful options like updating the LAME and OggVorbis encoders with a simple copy paste procedure. Overall an excellent and usefull program.

Using it since years, I lately bought a 'copyprotected' CD, starting an own player when being inserted and showing a lot of strange files on the commander.
Audiograbber showed me the 16 tracks and started working immediately :-))
Any further questions?!

I've been using Audiograbber for years on cassette tape and vinyl output. It's been faultless as far as I'm concerned. No need to say more is there?

for me it's a good alternative for mp3 encoding
It's complete free and works great
However it's a little bit slow (slower than
dbpower )
I know that's not very important for most users
But try it and you will adopt it

Quick rip with Fraunhofer codecs. For everything else there's EAC.

Works very well. I use it with the LAME encoder. For me, it works better than EAC. EAC started giving me strange errors lately.

I use EAC for its error-checking capabilities etc., but since it's more difficult to use, I recommend AG for my friends with lesser computer skills.

CDex's immediate rival for top of the heap. EAC doesn't get there because of its configuration quirkyness and retroactive abortion non-standard cue sheets. You want fast, efficient and above all accurate load-n-go? Here it sits.

This is hands down the BEST audio ripper that I have ever had the pleasure to use. It typically rips a four minute song in less than thirty seconds! After using this software for five minutes I went ahead and resgitered it. My kids are so happy with being able to take only minutes to create a mix of songs for a custom CD.

Outstanding!!

MyMaster

MyMaster reviewed v1.82 on Feb 12, 2003

there are better FREE alternatives to Audiograbber. CDex and EAC come to mind. Did i mention those are FREE, and usually give you better results than AG.

I'm not even going to bother trying this program. CDex does just about everything if not more than what the application's description describes. CDex is a 3 year old open source, freeware solution. I recommend you guys try that instead too. CDex is also one of the most popular Open Source Downloads at www.SourceForge.net, which is of course also where you find the home page of the CDex project.

Hi dudes! It's very good ripper as a shareware.I think the best of money leeching rippers.I've been using it for a long time until I discovered CDex.CDex is the best and it's completely free!!!If you have extra money, buy Audigrabber. But frankly speaking I would recommend CDex and Lame encoder :)

funky303

funky303 reviewed v1.82 on Feb 12, 2003

folks it's shareware.

the best Ripper is ExactAudioCopy, wich is also freeware and has definitively the best read results.

Also quality of resulting files is not based on the ripper, it is based on the encoder you are using.

So i would recommend the modified frauenhofer codec by Radium

yeah this is an awesome ripper, I've read the other reviews some of you posted, and the one guy talking about musicmatch, yeah sure it's nifty, but you are stupid if you can't get tracknaming and id3 tags situated in audiograbber, also, your version number is wrong, it's 1.81.3, there is no build 4, but whatever, it's a great program if you take the time to learn all the functionality it offers, it does everything one would expect and a s***load more.

A very *good* program, but for the best audio quality use Audioactive Production Studio.

I've always loved audiograbber. The new version supports ID3 version 2 which is the only thing I have missed in the earlier versions. With the rip 2 ram feature my yamaha 16x cdr writer rips music in 30x =).

slg reviewed v1.80 Beta 4 on Mar 8, 2001

I used to use AudioGrabber religiously because it was easier to catalog, but then I found MusicMatch Jukebox. Not only does it have the same features, but it is faster and encodes the tracks with the Artist, Album, and Genre Info so that moving to your MP3 software/player is easier as you don't have to redundantly enter information.

Trust me, this is the best all-in-one MP3 software available. I've been using it for over a year, and it just keeps getting better. One reasonable price, and all upgrades\updates are free. It can handle any codec thrown at it, and the latest version allows for ripping into RAM for a truly smooth process. A true winner.
