Seems everything is only available in the premium edition or is 'presently unavailable'. A waste of time IMHO.

At installation just decline the additional software from the bundle and you can get only the christvonline product. For me it works, I can watch my favourite premium channels and the movies I want...They should updated their channels more frequently but in rest I think is a great software. Just try the JTV channels and the movies, it's fun! ;)

happy watching!

@ mhmallory: FALSE it clearly TELLS you and ASKS you if you want to install it, selecting DECLINE keeps it from installing. This software works fine and as long as you read and decline, no spyware installs.

Many of the channels don't work.

Crappy interface! No portable version?

But most of all advertises for the PREMIUM Edition way too much!

Chris TV installer silently installs the spware program Relevant Knowledge, http://www.bleepingcompu.../RelevantKnowledge.html. I would stay away from this program.

Chris TV contains Trojan Horse relevantknowledge. It installs anyhow, It does not uninstall. It starts a local proxy to monitor and redirect your internet traffic. It may do more evil things. It restarts automatically whenever you kill the process. I hope renaming the c:\Program Files\RelevantKnowledge directory will get rid of it.

The photo above is not ChrisTV Lite. The Lite version doesn't have a control panel. Settings are made from a context menu (right click) on the screen. After testing ChrisTV PVR I was quite surprised at the extent to which the Lite version has been crippled. I believe the Lite version of this program is intended only as a "come on" for you to buy one of the pay versions since it has been so extensively stripped of features.

Feature wise, the KM Player and PVR are in the same ball park except for the cost. The downside is the KM Player doesn't have a TV setup wizard so it *will* take more effort to configure properly, but you *will* save $45 euro.

ADDENDUM: I forgot to mention keyboard shortcuts are available for the common functions in addition to the context menu, but changing channels using the keyboard is frustrating. Active channels are placed consecutively in a list starting with number 1 and that is the number you enter, not the TV channel number. Since not all channels are active, the numbers won't agree. To watch channel 95 I have to type in 57. (I believe this is true of all ChrisTV versions.)

ADDENDUM 2: Even after declining to install the Relevant Knowledge spyware, immediately after installation the rkverify.exe process was running in memory. After rebooting and restarting ChrisTV, the process was gone and the file could not located on the computer. I did, however, find it inside of the ChrisTV installation file in the RK folder. I seriously question why this file was running, if only one time, since RK was declined during installation. This would explain why some people are getting AV alerts when installing ChrisTV Lite.

One final complaint: a "nag" line is annoyingly displayed across the top of the screen each time the program is started and remains there until the channel is changed.

My rating of ChrisTV Lite is 0 stars.

Well that didn't go well.

First it said I would have to update to a paid version because it did not have support for my TV Card with MPEG Hardware Uncoder (Hauppauger 150 card) then I got a screen from my Antivirus saying it was trying to install a Trojan, then it locked up. I also found it had installed a program called RelevantKnowledge, you can opt out but it's real easy to miss.

I tried it on another computer. This time it installed, but I never could get a proper image. It had bands at the corner and bottom and I could not get the interface to show like it does in the picture (perhaps you have to pay for that?).

Two systems, 3 TV cards. no luck. It may be me, but it's not worth my time any longer.

As Hauppauge STILL HAVEN'T supported their analogue 881 Board for Vista, this application may finally give me access again to TV.
Pity though that FM Radio isn't supported without the add-on option for the freeware version.

*EDIT* The Hauppauge UK site has Vista driver downloads. The US site only has a non working beta from Nov 2006.
May not have to use Chris TV after all?
