Publisher's Description

FastFolders is an extension that increases your productivity dramatically by giving you quick and easy access to folder contents and files. Without opening each and every folder, you can browse the directory structure starting at any point by clicking the right mouse button on a file, folder or drive. The program modifies the context menu of folders and files, adding a menu item which displays the directory structure on demand. In addition, it includes a revolutionary feature to resize the items of the status bars of all Explorer windows, to fit all important information optimally.

I installed it, and promptly rebooted.

I opened one of its fly-out menus.

Explorer hung. The whole system nearly stopped due to exorbitantly-high CPU usage. I couldn't even run Process Explorer to kill explorer.exe.

I uninstalled this piece of garbage.

Fair is fair; the Open/Explore problem I mentioned below has been resolved with FastFolders 3.0. Now, I can finally appreciate how handy and well-designed FastFolders really is. The new "Total Size" column it (optionally) adds to Explorer windows is really handy, and I am extremely surprised to find that it doesn't slow things down much at all when working with Explorer windows.

I have to RETRACT my statement that FastFolders has a WinXP issue in which the shell freezes. This update seems to have resolved it. So why did I bother with my other response? Because I first mentioned that bug to the author a full year and a half ago (back with FastFolders 2.61), and I got sick of trying version after version, only to find the bug was still there. And when 2.66 came out, I asked if the bug was corrected, and was ignored. So, the shell freeze issue is gone, but there is still another bug: If you right click a folder under the Start Menu, and select Open or Explore, nothing happens. This is a bug in FastFolders 2.66, plain and simple (although not as serious as a shell freeze!). Aside from that, FastFolders works very well and is thoughtfully designed. It's very handy and reasonably priced. The Start Menu bug is a mere annoyance (if you happen to use the Open and Explore menu options in the first place). I am giving 5 stars here to compensate for my other review.

it works PERFECTLY for me in xp, i have no idea what your talking about.

This program is incredable. I should probably regiser it... one of those special apps that deserves to be registered...

Its really fast, and it doesnt lock up when its trying to "spin up" a drive. It cascades THROUGH shortcuts to folders, how sexy is that?

Any way... i havnt seen any compatibilty problems.
