Excellent! Now with Nano5G support! Can finally rid my PC of the infestation that is iTunes! First time had to right-click and run-as admin in Win7 x64, but now can just run the program normally and it works flawlessly!.

shame, still no new ipod support. so It won't work with ipod Touchs not Iphone, nor latest Nanos.

Sharepod does.
MusicBee does
Mediamonkey does

Won't find my IPod Nano 2nd Gen, says it is not connected.

ITunes finds it fine.

Still wouldn't shutoff in Vista x64.

Great, except I had to stick with 4.9 since 5.0 doesn't want to close on either of my Windows (XP and Vista) machines. I'm sure 5.1 will fix the issue, as others have experienced it as well.

Please make it rockbox compatible..Audio is always drag and drop but something compact would be great.i would love to be able to convert audio/video quickly from youtube to my ipod with rockbox, with one single tool.

elitegangsta is a better man than I. I just couldn't get this working with my ipod touch at all.
Nothing on the website about the touch that is remotely useful. - documentation is very confusing (lots of self refrencing)

@netean it does work with the iphone and ipod touch... i've used both with this app FLAWLESSLY. I have ran into no problems when this app is ran correctly. I did however select the wrong ipod version on a 5th gen 160gb classic ipod and it mucked thing up really bad. That was my fault though, but the app can be confusing in places, thus my 4 star. I found it to be the best app in terms of quick, easy sync and transfer w/o the use of iTunes when this app is used correctly. It DOES support all current iPods and iPhones, I've used it personally on the newest ones and have not had 1 issue.

netean

netean reviewed v3.8 on Oct 27, 2008

can't rate it higher than 3, even though it seems to be ok. as it doesn't work with newest gen ipod's (classic touch 1G/2G, or iPhone) and very little mention of it anywhere on their site.

@elitegangsta. v3.8 doesn't recognise my ipod touch... no idea how to enter my fwid (allegedly needed for it)

Help documentation is awful, very very confusing - (lots of hyperlinks that reference each other)

As much as I hate itunes, i find it works better than this. Floola crashes all the time. Its Slow. And has a ugly and somewhat confusing interface to boot. It has the important features to manage your ipod, but unless you need to transfer some music quickly at a friends house, I cant imagine how this is any better than itunes.

Also, why is this and yamipod so similar? they both have the same slowness and very similar interface. Almost seems like the same program.

It's thanks to software like this that I actually bought an iPod. iTunes sucks and unfortunately, the software that others such as Creative or Zune make you install isn't much better or less bloated.

This (and SharePod) truly make iPod a portable player.

Excellent freeware !
Any alternative for the Ipod Touch?

Qlib reviewed v3.4 on Aug 28, 2008

unlike Yamipod this one doesnt corrupt my ipod 9 of 10 times its used!

Im not too deeply in love with the interface.. its a bit.. confusing.. but.. ah well.. theres always Sharepod :D

This is a 5 because if it's compatible with your series of iPod, it frees you from having to use the bloated crap that is iTunes. It keeps things simple and works well. Keep it on your ipod and you can use it on other people's computers without installing anything. It's updated regularly. Better than any of the other iTunes replacements.

just in case anyone cares or is wondering. This does NOT work with ipod touch/iphone.

What about newer Ipod classics, does it work for those?

Qlib

Qlib reviewed v2.5 on Jan 22, 2008

it does crash a fair bit.. but.. i like it still.. its MUCH less prone to fukup the database like Yamipod does.. a.. LOT.. and its got more features than Sharepod that i tend to use the most .. so..

Nikkie, You have to install FFmpeg to download YouTube videos. To get the iPod to eject you have to hold shift and then click the X but keep holding shift until you see the iPod go back to the menu. The nag screen only comes up after a fresh install or an upgrade. Don't give up, trust me, it is worth it. The dev is also very responsive to requests. He has added about 3 things for me. Donate! I did.

i've tried Floola b4...wouldn't work w/my shuffle or 3rd gen 40gb. still won't work w/my shuffle (didn't try big one) i use Yamipod (Floola looks suspiciously similar) and Yami seems best alternative to iTunes.
attn: m00m00 - have you tried deleting file
"[DrvLtr]:\iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesLock" when other proggies tell you "Locked by iTunes..."? this works for me on all mine (and fams') ipods

Not bad. Works more intuitively than gtkPod (on Linux) and most others, but it's still a bit buggy at times. Don't expect to use the iTunes store either. That's where I had to walk away from it. My kids all use the iTunes store more than anything else in iTunes, so unless a substitute can perform that task, they're of no use to me or my family.

WOW. Used to use Yamipod, but always had to install i-tunes with this from time to time in order for it to work. Found Floola... I-tunes now GONE and have never looked back. Now on version 5.1 and it is solid. It just works. Without hassles. With all the extras including lastFM. If you have used Yamipod, then give this a try. You won't look back. GREAT FREEWARE!

En realidad, parece más un ensayo de programa que un software terminado. Lo que pude ver es que la interfaz es fea y desprovista totalmente de buen gusto. Parecería como si estuviéramos frente a un software de la década de los 90'. Gracias y saludos.

Stay away from this, one nasty software. Tried it twice and had to restore my ipod both times.

ermax18

ermax18 reviewed vBeta 49 on Jun 8, 2007

This software is great. I have tried many iTunes replacement programs and this is the best one yet. And it is free (I did donate though). I actually like the way iTunes has the columns for Genre, Artist and Album. Floola keeps this interface. I also rely heavily on SmartPlaylists which a lot of other iTunes alternatives don't handle well. Floola has good smartplaylist support. Floola is a single exe so you don't need to install it. Floola's settings are stored on the iPod so your settings travel with you. Floola is fast, it starts almost instantly unlike iTunes. I can finally uninstall iTunes for good!
