Useful with PC's you are not familiar with & don't want to dismantle & get showered with dust. I personally like this utility.

Hey Tall Paul from Tennessee (tallpaultn) : Just wtF are you talking about?
CPUz will show you everything most users would ever need to know...ABOUT THE PROCESSOR.
GPUz, on the other hand, is made to show users what they need to know ABOUT THE GRAPHICS CARD(S).
The two are not interchangeable, nor do they even reflect information about similar parts. CPU = Processor, GPU = Graphics Card.
Does what it's supposed to, works great, and never, I mean NEVER has it locked up on a single system out of hundreds that I've run it on (IT/Remote Admin/Systems Admin/Computer Repair business)
Note for the Devs: PLEASE change the GUI for those of us that are running Crossfire/SLI so we can see temps/speeds/voltages of BOTH cards at the same time. PLEASE!

Getting better and better, though it should be marketed as beta!

Beware!!!!!!! Crappy software-made my computer go nutz then locked it up big time as soon I opened it!!!!!! I recommend CPU-Z & forget this software...

Awesome tool with online database :)

Same lock up here. I suspect it's driver conflicts with other hardware tweak utilities when run at the same time. With that suspicion, I stop & close the other hardware tweak utilities when I need to run GPU-Z. I've never had locks up since then. So I'll score it as 4 since it's a useful program.

"I am grateful for this program, but sometimes when I run it, my computer locks up. I rate it a four for now. XFX 8800 GTS 512 Alpha Dog XXX"
I had that happen with my new ATI 4830 using ver. 0.2.8 or 9. It now works with 0.3.0 but this latest version does not show my video card OC's. Over all a very good program to compliment cpuz.

Perhaps if you were to install Nvidia's drivers instead of using Microsoft's drivers it may report the correct timings on the clock.

GPU-Z 0.1.6 : http://img240.imageshack...240/3663/gpuz016kv2.png
GPU-Z 0.1.9 : http://img122.imageshack...122/6549/gpuz019th8.png
The clock stills doesn't work with Windows Vista, GeForce FX 5600 and generic drivers.
DudeBoyz reviewed v0.1.8 on Mar 29, 2008
Works ok, but 1.8 adds a kind of annoying splash screen. 1.7 did not have that, and I wish that it wasn't there.
But that's about all I can think of that I don't like about the program.

does what it says on the tin

Still needs some work but getting better. 4 points for functionality and an extra point for tenacity. In spite of being put down for the name of the program and being told their app was garbage (it was), W1zzard and crew have hung in there and GPU-Z is getting better and better. Let this be a lesson to the folks who only complain instead of rolling up thier sleeves and lending freeware, often amature, authors a hand. Props to the folks who joined the techPowerUp forums and did just that.
On a side note: back in the day, I submitted a Phoenix (Firefox) nightly which had a malformed font tag that crashed X server and rebooted Linux machines. Apparently, that was considered impossible at the time but, I did it! Now, that takes talent. *laughs* So, cheers to all of the other amature Programmers out there and the folks who bork their boxen trying our stuff out. ;-)

http://img406.imageshack...img406/9071/gpuzil6.jpg
Says it's disabled, I'm not sure if it says that because the detecting on the software is disabled or my sli config is. I know my configuration is on, both nvidia software and in-game detection says it's on.

GPU-Z 0.1.2 gives a missing gdiplus.dll error.
If this dll is required to run then it should be included in the package.

Froze my system - deep - on first run. A "neutral" 3 is my rating.

Age setting now properly reflects author's age (Happy Birthday!)
DarkRats reviewed v0.1.1 on Nov 14, 2007
This program always tries to update over the net when you run it. Even when you choose "never", it still attempts to check for an update.
Considering that it consists of an isolated executable, I don't see any way around this.
I don't do programs that update against my will, so I have to give this low marks.
war593122 reviewed v0.1.0 on Nov 6, 2007
Working great for me with my Geforce 8800 GTS on Windows XP Pro. SP2. Never has locked up, not since first build.
Program is getting better and better. Just wish he would hurry up and fix the update option.
pihug12 reviewed v0.1.0 on Nov 6, 2007
GPU-Z 0.1.0 stills crash with :
* Windows Vista
* GeForce FX 5600
* Generic driver of Vista
bobad reviewed v0.1.0 on Nov 6, 2007
I D/L the program again, and yet again, get a solid lockup. I have a very common O/S, motherboard, and video card. Very unprofessional! 3 strikes and your out.

Hall9000 reviewed v0.1.0 on Nov 5, 2007
This time it worked. Info not given were the following= Revision, Die Size, Memory Type, Shader. I suspect it would be because it's an onboard video card? Still this time, with all the info it gave I'll give it a 4.
Hall9000 reviewed v0.0.9 on Oct 22, 2007
Unknown architecture. :P My unknown computer is a Dell Optiflex GX280 and I'm using the onboard video! I guess it can recognize only one video card brand? I'm giving it a one simply because it doesn't need to install itself and I can't give it a zero. We really need a zero! :P
As for the name of the program here's what I found on their page. ".. and yes, the author of CPU-Z has granted us permission to use a name similar to his product. Thanks Franck."
hell0 reviewed v0.0.9 on Oct 22, 2007
The author of CPU-Z supposedly gave permission to use the name GPU-Z. I haven't verified this, but I assume it's true. Unless you get confirmation from the CPU-Z author that no such permission was given, stop whining about the name! If I were to make this type of utility, I might also use the same "GPU-Z", but I'd definitely ask permission. There's nothing wrong with it.
Only 3 because it still crashes sometimes on my system.
bobad reviewed v0.0.9 on Oct 22, 2007
Immediate lockup, necessitating a cold boot. WinXP SP-2
Nvidia 7600 GT
Ripping off a software's name is uncool, especially when it rips off such a nice author. Get your own name, dude.
Paul Skinner reviewed v0.0.9 on Oct 22, 2007
Start-up crash is fixed.
Still a rip-off of CPU-Z's name.
Won't be a 5 until they think of their own name.
pihug12 reviewed v0.0.8 on Oct 18, 2007
GPU-Z 0.0.8 stills crash with :
* Windows Vista
* GeForce FX 5600
* Generic driver of Vista
Paul Skinner reviewed v0.0.8 on Oct 16, 2007
Still crashes at startup; still a rip-off of CPU-Z's name.
Alex Stevens reviewed v0.0.8 on Oct 16, 2007
The idea is nice, but it's clearly a ripoff of CPU-Z's name and layout. I really hope CPUID takes action against them.
war593122 reviewed v0.0.7 on Oct 13, 2007
History:
* Added Update Checker
* Improved Shader Detection for ATI cards
* Added support for future ATI GPUs
* Various other improvements to detection code

Stone cold lockup. Developers really should try their software out on friends and family before unleashing it on the public.
Paul Skinner reviewed v0.0.3 on Oct 5, 2007
Crashed before it opened for me.
Plus it's not by the same company as CPU-Z but is clearly trading off the name.
ModderXManiac reviewed v0.0.3 on Oct 5, 2007
Simply awesome, I love CPU-Z, and for this being such an early product; it's fantastic and what I've been waiting awhile for.
