the only improvement i can think of would be if there was an option have the hashtab property page always on top - to help comparing by drag and drop

Very handy for validating downloads and such quickly without having to launch a console or separate app. One utility I wish I had on my Gnome desktop.

this new version is working as great as before. the only change i feel need some work is the auto detection of OS regional settings because there is no option to use another language.

It would be really nice to just be able to drag another file onto the compare box, if you're reading this Cody :)

Usually I need to check only one particular file at a time, so this shell extension is perfect for me.
There is also another good free tool, capable checking many files at once - FileVerifier++

OK, but only gets half of the way there. I want an extension that will allow me to generate and create hash files for individual files and folders - recursively if desired.
That why I use QuickSFV (which also does MD5):

Way better than what I had been using. Plus I love how in the install you have to agree that HashTab is the coolest thing ever...

Ive been using a simular add-on for years.
Great to see several systems included.

A version increase simply for adding translations? Never seen that done before.
HashTab is a nice idea, and it works well. I just wish it supported more hash algorithms. CRC-32 is antiquated and, while some idiots may still use it, the algorithm itself is essentially useless. (I have personally encountered collisions while using it.)
zANavAShi reviewed v1.8 on Nov 25, 2005
Yup, one of the first utilities I install on a new system too and I've use it regularly for ages. It's brilliant for when you want to do a quick dupe check between two files.
HashTab get's my top rating. :)
