Failed the only time I have had to use it. Believe this or not but the Norton... yes Norton Malware Remover was the only program that removed a Rootkit / Boot Virus from my sons PC.

So sorry chaps but 1 star.

you have to own it and have it installed on your hard drive in order to get the latest definitions
that will make it 1 star

Haven't actually tried it, just wanted to give And| some information.
I certainly found information about it on Kaspersky's site. I wonder what you searched for.

some_guy, what do you mean you can't update the definitions? You don't need a USB key to do that. It was quite a few months ago since I used it last time BUT as far as I remember, I am pretty sure it creates a RAM drive - disk drive/partition using your computer's RAM and updates are saved on that disk. It is exactly the same as if was saved on a hard disk except that the data is there for the current session only. This concept has been used everywhere on LIVE CDs. Anyone? correct me if I am wrong :)

Try and search for this on kaspersky.com. Nothing will be found. Strange.

the concept is great but the poor part you cant update the definitions list as stated below USB would be better at least you would have a chance to update the definitions, could try to extract the ISO to a usb and set bios to boot off usb and see what happens

driver8

driver8 reviewed v20080611 Test on Jun 18, 2008

quick to download (81mb)
easy to burn (ISO using nero)
boots up quite quickly into linux os
nice GUI, with a few basic options

BUT app loads with a warning that the definitions are out of date - presumably this works best with a full version already installed.

Anyone know how to use the latest defs file with this ? (I've downloaded & googled, but cannot find instructions, maybe it's not possible ?) Or anyone know how effective this would be running as is ?

Kaspersky's effective antivirus in a bootable rescue disk? And free to boot? Sounds like a deal!
